Hm... Fish in hamsterballs? Sounds neat, except they would kind of get dizzy, now wouldn't they? I would like a laundry dryer fish tank. You know, those dryers with the porthole looking doors. Now, that would be neat, except you wouldn't want to put your fish on "tumble" dry or anything like that.

I think we all dream about them too much..... ......

When you stay up all night with them because of a little weather disturbance.....

When you're sick with worry all weekend because you don't know if your "weekday" fish are still alive because of a little weather disturbance....

When you can go shopping @3 different stores, none of them fish stores, just to find stuff for your tanks....

When you have a dream about your fish running around the living room in little hamster balls and spend the rest of the day trying to figure out how you could make that work.

It's OK, Shearon!! It wasn't callin me a guy in te other forum that kept me from posting... I hardly got to see my fish this past week!! But I made up for it... I spent all last night at the LFS picking plants and decorations for my 30gal. It's almost done now... used Cycle and biospira and have 4 comets in there to feed the bacteria.

Ummm... yeah, I've spent all my money on these guys in the past few months!

"You go away and miss them more than the people you live with" -- I always used to love getting away from my x-roommates!!!

When you try pawning off your newest tank as your boyfriend's birthday present. (But he loves it!!)

When your significant other (that you live with) sees you less than your fish and fish profiles buddies do.

When you forget about the dishes in the sink until you have to hook up your python.

When you spend amost your whole paycheck in one trip to the LFS. (I needed it ALL!!)

Shearon honey, (yes, I'm still alive, but busy working my rear off) I hate to say this but you created the monster, and now well honey you have to deal with it. Johnny doesn't seem too interested in the fish, except he did want some new ones...now there are tetras in the platy, guppy tank...

OK here are a few more for you....

You might be obsessed with the fish if:

Your new job keeps you from seeing them as much as you want or need to...

You get some tetras to satisfy the boyfriend and wonder why the heck they won't school like they are supposed to but keep trying to make babies with the platies and guppies...

You wonder what a guppy/tetra would look like...

You spend the fish hours of your one day off caring for the tanks, and trying to get caught up on the time you've missed watching them...

You get a new video camera and the first thing you do is see how well the fish turn out on video...

Dang I need a life......

When you dream that the school of neon tetras was really just hiding for the past 2 months and the suddenly pop up as if to say "ha-haa, had you fooled there of fish goddess who brings us food, but really should bring us tastier nibblets. You thought we had been a sacrifice to pictus didn't you?...Well that will teach you a lesson, get rid of him, get us yummier foods and we won't hide again."

Then your dream continues to the effect of...well once the 10 is cleared up the neons will look so much more impressive in that than the danios, maybe I should brin my 6gal hex from home for them temp...nah can't cycle....hmmmm what am I going to do about the pictus....

Plot, plan, and scheme
when awake
and in my dreams.

And skin...if your hubby was really worried he'd get you more tanks...tell him he doesn't love you enough and should build an addition onto your house..just for the fish

^_^

When you have a dream about someone on FP working in a LFS and doing a documentary about feeding fish. Or when you realise youd much rather do a water change than have dinner which is sitting on the table ready for you to eat. Both happened to me today.

eilu, don't worry I won't tell....my secret for getting over eating tuna (since I don't eat land animals, I sometimes need the protein) is that since I don't have a big enough tank to keep a tuna fish it's okay....

ACIDRAIN, now I'm laughing....wow...so do you name them all? ....J/K of course....

when you can't tell the difference between fish and people... (one of my college professors looks like a goldfish... or is it the other way around? i swear!)

when you *dislike the little girl and the dentist in Finding Nemo

when you wanted to adopt Nemo and Marlin

*removed

when your conscience bothers you for having eaten fish (any fish...)

when you're supposed to be studying for an exam but instead you're at FP replying to this post (shhhh... don't anyone tell on me! )

Exactly right Koi. Bable, with over 2000 fish (about 6-800 fry), and over 200 species, it would be hard for me to list them all.

And yes, I do BAP points. For those of you that do not know BAP, it is points you accumulate for breeding fish. When you get a specified number, and the right order you get an award, plaque, ribbon, or trophy. I am also the chairperson in my local club for the Sustained Specied BAP.

He is laughing histarically because there is a point of addiction (you will be here someday never fear). When the amount of fish you currently have or have bred becomes such an impossibly long list that it is literally laughable to even list them off; let alone contemplating giving someone the run-down.

I politely say I had bred this sp or that sp rather than have to list every darn fish in the entire sp I have bred. for example I have bred livebearer sp. That includes over a dozen different fish sp alone I have personally bred.

For rainman it is worse. He is even more addicted than I and probably does BAP points. (Which I have only contemplated doing)

When you realize that since you found and joined FP (about a week ago) you haven't checked your e-mail once and you look up at that strange person in the door for a moment before realizing that it's your girlfriend.

Also I resenly spent two days driving around at every lfs I could find in the phonebook (within 2 hours drive) looking for thoose two plants that just had to be in my new setup (didn't find them).

By the way, anyone know why the skin is starting to grow out between the fingers?

So here I am once more...

... when all your fish have names, all of them, would you like me to list them?
... when after you've decided what fish you want at ur lfs's tanks, you stand in front of it at growl at others until the customer sevice to aquatics comes
... when everyone at my lfs knows fish demon and i as "the fish sisters"

When some newly met person asks you, "what kind of fish do you have?" and you start laughing histarically.

When another hobbyist, or experienced fish keeper asks you, "What kind of fish do you breed?" and you start laughing histarically.

Well, now Roxy...I'm not too sure about that dating part! But I might consider 'marriage'!

I now believe that Hubby is more obsessed with fish than I am...

We both arrived home today at the same time. I had been shopping and had actually collapsed in the Wal-Mart parking lot...couldn't breathe...God bless two teenage girls who helped me with my packages, helped me to my car, and made sure I was alright and stayed with me until they were sure I could breathe a bit better.

As Hubby is getting out of his truck, I gently beep my horn so that he would (hopefully) come help me...not too much to ask, after all, I am still wheezing and gasping and probably looking a bit Smurfy!

He shouts..."Wait a minute, I have to check the fish! The electricity has been out for 20 minutes."

]:|]:|]:|]:|]:|]:|]:|]:|]:|]:|

Thoughts, going through my mind..."Well, if that's the way he's gonna be about it! I'll just show him! I'll stagger into the house, in my blue mode, dragging my shopping bags behind me, gasping my little lungs out! He likes those darn fish better than he does me! They've been without oxygen for 20 minutes and I've been without oxygen for the past 12 years! Just who does he think he is...boy, am I gonna tell him off...that is as soon as I can talk! If I could afford it, I would give him a piece of my mind! I'll make him think 'gotta check the fish'! I'm gonna feed those damned fish to the cats or each other or fry 'em for supper! Now I know just how important I am around here!"

]:|]:|]:|]:|]:|]:|]:|]:|]:|]:|

"Shearon, honey, are you okay? Boy I sure was worried about the fish. I saw the guys from the electric company working on the lines and they said that the power had been off for 20 minutes...and I saw that you weren't here and I was gonna make sure you didn't lose any more of your fish...Honey, why are you looking at me like that? Are you alright? Shearon, put down that skillet, honey, you are in no condition to be cooking...are you okay?"

"I'm fine...just fine!" ]:|]:|]:|]:|]:|]:|]:|]:|

I've developed a sort of a sixth sense for tanks; any tank, however small, immediately attrackts my attention. You're just walking along a row of houses and suddenly you stop in your tracks because you've spotted this distinctive greenish light somewhere inside ...

I remember we had one when the board still had a dark color. There were some like buying the Atlantic Ocean and stuff...

You know you are obsessed with fish when...you give them your oxygen before you use it...

*you spot the tanks in movies/commercials and criticize bioload
*every time you see LFS on a license plate you think fish.
*hemm wonder if my fish will eat this???
*your garden grows from all the tank water
*I second dreaming about them
*third on greenish glow

and yeah the search is horrid, most of the time I spend all day looking thru all the posts, then give up and post the question anyway....

all I can think of for now...

I also always will spot a tank on a tv show or comercial. Also once you spend more money on them than on you. Its all in good fun tho.

You find yourself doing water changes for fun, and can't find another plant to poor the water on, so you attack your neighbor's plants with the "sushi water".

You refer to them by name, and get upset when your closest friend can't keep them straight.

You tell your other pets to be nice to their sisters and brothers.

You wonder whatelse you can shove in a goldie's tank that they will eat.

And my favorite:
You spend most of your time online at fishprofiles.com looking for more information or trying to help others in need.

You spot fish in commercials and movies and name every species and reason that there are too many fish in them.

Who saw Jungle 2 Jungle? They were talking about paying a hefty amount on some cichlids we could probably get for a lot cheaper.

you wander thru the homewares section eyeing off anything that even remotely looks like a betta habitat!

that greenish glow goes for me too!

And the utter stress when i see the libra ad on telly, of this goggle eyed goldie who is stressed because he lives under the packet of pantyliners... nobody thought about his TINY bowl with the milky water did they now ???
BTW, any one else notice how the owners eyes also bug out of her head?

Yes, I must admit I know the feeling of the green glow...Try explaining to you new neighbors why there is this weird glow coming from your bedroom...Really it is a 29 gallon fish tank...It's the grow out tank before they go to the lfs...really...I still don't think he believes me...

I have fishy nightmares..

That my hatchets will find a way out..

That the fish I've just ordered from my LFS are actually mutants that will grow 10 times their actual size....and that they'll cost me so much more...

I've had sleepless nights, waking up in fear that my tanks will leak and water will find a way into my power points...

Other obsessive symptoms include...

My eyes being able to speed-locate the word "fish" or "tank" on a full page of newspaper classifieds...(Read on a daily basis..)

Doing water changes in the middle of the night...(I can't sleep unless I can remember a water change being done in the last 3 days..)

Considering becomming a glazier.

....you do a little calculation, then realise you spend nearly $100/month on fish food.

....you cannot remember a single week in the past year when you have not purchased at least one fish.

....the local aquarium society's fall auction is coming, and although you promise yourself you will not buy anything, you convince yourself that the $500 in your pocket is for 'just in case'.

Guilty of the majority of things stated. (Yes I've read em all)

My sister-inlaw laughs, I'll be talking and watching the tanks at the same time and all of a sudden I'm up and doing somethine with the tank or fishes. I think its a mental condition

Must admit I do prefer to play in the water. I work at LFS and I would rather do maintenance on the tanks than serve customers. (Bad Girl) - But hey! It's my hobby, I get to work in the industry, I'm a good fisherwoman - I get to go fishing all the time - I always catch a fish, and its not a long story like some fishermen stories - its the truth

Aquadude, when I was on vacation, I called my cousin several times a day to see if she had gone over and fed/checked on my fish yet. She had a page of instructions to follow and received about a half an hour speech. ^_^

When the first thing you have to know after moving to a new town is where the lfs is...

When you walk into the only 2 lfs in the new town you grown, because you already know there is going to be trouble, you have more tanks and gallons than they do...
