He is laughing histarically because there is a point of addiction (you will be here someday never fear). When the amount of fish you currently have or have bred becomes such an impossibly long list that it is literally laughable to even list them off; let alone contemplating giving someone the run-down.

I politely say I had bred this sp or that sp rather than have to list every darn fish in the entire sp I have bred. for example I have bred livebearer sp. That includes over a dozen different fish sp alone I have personally bred.

For rainman it is worse. He is even more addicted than I and probably does BAP points. (Which I have only contemplated doing)

Exactly right Koi. Bable, with over 2000 fish (about 6-800 fry), and over 200 species, it would be hard for me to list them all.

And yes, I do BAP points. For those of you that do not know BAP, it is points you accumulate for breeding fish. When you get a specified number, and the right order you get an award, plaque, ribbon, or trophy. I am also the chairperson in my local club for the Sustained Specied BAP.

eilu, don't worry I won't tell....my secret for getting over eating tuna (since I don't eat land animals, I sometimes need the protein) is that since I don't have a big enough tank to keep a tuna fish it's okay....

When you have a dream about someone on FP working in a LFS and doing a documentary about feeding fish. Or when you realise youd much rather do a water change than have dinner which is sitting on the table ready for you to eat. Both happened to me today.

A few nights ago I dreamt I was one of my clown loaches - it was great fun! Then when I woke up I was really sad that I was a person again. My husband says he is worried about me......

When you dream that the school of neon tetras was really just hiding for the past 2 months and the suddenly pop up as if to say "ha-haa, had you fooled there of fish goddess who brings us food, but really should bring us tastier nibblets. You thought we had been a sacrifice to pictus didn't you?...Well that will teach you a lesson, get rid of him, get us yummier foods and we won't hide again."

Then your dream continues to the effect of...well once the 10 is cleared up the neons will look so much more impressive in that than the danios, maybe I should brin my 6gal hex from home for them temp...nah can't cycle....hmmmm what am I going to do about the pictus....

Shearon honey, (yes, I'm still alive, but busy working my rear off) I hate to say this but you created the monster, and now well honey you have to deal with it. Johnny doesn't seem too interested in the fish, except he did want some new ones...now there are tetras in the platy,guppy tank...

OK here are a few more for you....

You might be obsessed with the fish if:

Your new job keeps you from seeing them as much as you want or need to...

You get some tetras to satisfy the boyfriend and wonder why the heck they won't school like they are supposed to but keep trying to make babies with the platies and guppies...

It's OK, Shearon!! It wasn't callin me a guy in te other forum that kept me from posting... I hardly got to see my fish this past week!! But I made up for it... I spent all last night at the LFS picking plants and decorations for my 30gal. It's almost done now... used Cycle and biospira and have 4 comets in there to feed the bacteria.

Ummm... yeah, I've spent all my money on these guys in the past few months!

I know what you mean about the dollars...they just sort of seem to go poof!

Hm... Fish in hamsterballs? Sounds neat, except they would kind of get dizzy, now wouldn't they? I would like a laundry dryer fish tank. You know, those dryers with the porthole looking doors. Now, that would be neat, except you wouldn't want to put your fish on "tumble" dry or anything like that.

when you go straight after school in your school uniform to the only LFS you can get to on a bus an area of town where wearing that uniform could get your head kicked in cos u need BBS for your angelfish fry.

Here's a new one... When you get tired of going to the same LFS('s) all the time so you start driving around until you see something that might resemble an LFS.

True story!! Fount this neat Exotic pet store yesterday, which mostly sells reptiles, and low and behold, this guy gets his feeders off the same people as the bigh LFS's, and he can order any kind of fish for 1/5 the price!!! (the best part is this guy is closer than the other LFS's!!)

yeah sunflwr, snow is a terrible thing, like i said before i,d love to just pack up and go but i like my lfs too much to leave so i put up with the snow ice and cold for my fish. i want to go some place that is H O T so i can do this.....:88)and not this....... california dreamin.

and the 55G is new.

I always get HUGE bubble nests before a storm. On several occasions, the sky has been clear, but I see that they've made a bubble nest. I go downstairs and report that there will be a storm that evening or night, and without fail, it comes.

Aquadude.... I know what you mean, I've lived in NH all my life and I'm still not used to the cold. It's already hitting 40 at night here, and we're lucky to see 55 in the day. There goes my hopes of having a betta.

I know I am obsessed with fish when I disobey my parents and had to sneek my new 29g tank in last May.

We already got frost too Harley and Aquadude!!! I had to scrape it off my windows the other morning, and I've been covering my plants at night. It will only get to 50 tonight though, whew. I hope this early cold spell isn't indicative of how winter is going to be this year...last year was murder -- several ice storms!

I love my woodstove, it gives off better heat than gas, and keeps my heaters in the tanks from going on overload... I'm still to scared to put a betta in my 1 gal tank, because we get the kitchen up to 90 with the stove.

Woke up this morning at 530am cos I needed to pee, but went to my fish tank first and thought "gee I need to do a water change today... now's as good a time as any!" and started to change the water. Had to stop to pee half way through cos I could hear the water noises! hee hee!

Babel, don't worry, I've gone to the LFS just for cycle (well, that was the excuse anyways) and spent an hour at the store looking at the fish.

Last time i took more than i needed (only went for BS and some cories) i came out with a 1.5 gallon bowl and a betta.

u look at your tank and say "hmm a 75g is far too small for 5 discus mayb i should sell the tank and get a bigger one, like a 120G, yes that would house the discus comfotably" keeping the fish of course.

Someone offer you a 55g tank and u go off on left field ideas of wht your going to do with the tank. from a reef tank that then develops into a 120G reef tank with the 55g as a sump/refugium . im goming to get a reef tank no matter what. the dark side has corrupted me

What he doesn't realize is that I'm thinking of going to WalMart for that 55 I've had in site for quite some time...I figure I could have it all set up and running/cycling if I ever get another day off, and he'd never know it wasn't one of those in storage...the ones in storage are only 10's and hey I think I need a bigger one than that to help my lack of sanity...10 gallon might go to work soon....:%) Oh don't tell Johnny that the 55 is new....

When you sell your wifes computer to take the proceeds and buy a 75 gallon? And promise you'll eventually get her another..

I'll be doing it this coming friday actually...Oh god I can't wait! My biggest now is a 55...

Well this one is actually..."The pet store knows you're obsessed when..."

You search all over the house and your car only to bring in $10 worth of change to buy just anything because your wife won't give you anymore money to spend on fish/supplies!

When you buy a fish labeled as a Gold Saum without researching it, head home and do some research, find it's also known as a Green Terror, decide that sounds very ominous...Then find out you've got a male and head to the fish store to get a female.

When you buy fish (juvenile) that will easily outgrow the tank your keeping them in at the moment, so you have a REASON to splurge out on a lavish new tank, rather than an the old EXCUSES.
When you got to the library at school and instead of researching on the computers/internet your caught drawing fish on Paint, and having people staring over your shoulder... (Most of which are monster fish that don't exist anyway,)

Why didn't I think of the tank buster one YEARS ago!?!?

...rather do important stuff (tear down wall, insulate wall, drywall -ehehe-, paint wall, tear out floor) you stare at your fish tank.

...make excuses to check your email and stare at your tank and start doing maintenance

...you say "Good morning folks" when you hop out of bed to see them (totally bypassing everything else)

...you stare at the tank so much, you imagine yourself in there as well.

...you can, by memory, draw every detail in your tank.

...you know the Scientific names and Common Names of every fish and plant in your tank (and boast to friends about it)
