When the employees know you by name... Even when you don't pay by check. Either they spend a while staring at my debit card (which I only use there on occassion) or, or... they're psychic! That's it!

I mean, it's disconcerting for one of the employees to help you, then thank you BY NAME when you never introduced yourself.

Or to order fish and have the girl at the counter write down your name without asking. I don't know HER name! *blinks*

So, besides feeling a bit out of the psychic loop , I find it amusing that I obviously spend enough time there that the people know me. I also feel the need to learn everyone's name all of a sudden.

So... anyone else have a "spending too much time at the LFS" moment? Or... am I just... weird?

you start naming the fish in their tanks ....no I don't do that @the LFS...just @the aquarium...and I've only named the mandarin goby so far

I quit working at my LFS and they keep yelling at me and telling to to come back ... and customers still ask me about stuff ...

And they make you catch your own fish because you're so picky

You're there almost more than the employees themselves (Nope, I don't do that ... really )

They call you when they get new shipments, or you're there when they get new fish shipments.

They hold aside the coolest looking bettas for you to buy when you come in that day or the next day

They wonder where your dogs are if you don't bring them in ...

Ummm - there are more

...When you work there full-time.

When you know all of the employees names, and they know yours.

When they ask you "How's that Dojo Loach doin'?" 3 months after they sell it to you.

They set up a cheese bar for me so I come do buissiness there instead of anothe LFS

They stop giving discounts on purchases of $100 or more because they're losing money because of you.

Gimme a bit to think of some more...

when customers mistake you as staff

when you get fish at cost price

when you have clout when it comes to ordering in fish

blah blah blah....

I used to spend almost EVERY day at my lfs when I was back in australia....

When you work there full time and getting fish/stock at wholesaler prices OK, im not funny

ROFL. I've done that which makes it bitersweet when they've finally been sold

when you have a little black book with all the numbers in it and the staff save a fish for you to inspect if its good enough for your tank or for their own tank and they show you pictures of their tanks and get your advise.
