I would like to ask what cooling does people on FP have in their computers, because I have a standard Intel P4 1.7GHz (no overclocking) and its like over 67*C I have even took off the sides of the case and its still like a heater. Other computers I have are 35*C while the main one I love is overheating and causes the auto-shutdown via the CPU. When the computer auto-shutsdown, the PSU (Power Supply Unit) is very hot. I was recommended by many people (cousins, friends and teachers) to change my PSU, and CPU fan.

Thus, I decided to order a cooler Master case with a 350watt PSU. I also ordered the Cooler Master Aero 4 Cpu fan. I hope these should fix the job or else I might have to change the CPU as well as the motherboard. The computer is approx. 4 years old and might have faulties in the cpu/motherboard. I just recieved my fan, and still waiting for the case as it is just new in Australia. The estimate date of arrival is next Wed, very excitted to recieve it.

Hopefully it will arrive next wed.
Steve

you should always get a heat sink/fan combo which is rated for a cpu MUCH larger than the one you're running. also make sure that there is air flow around it. i had the same problem with my old case being too short to allow proper air flow and my cpu was constantly overheating after about 10 minutes ]:| having a few case fans helps, and you could also turn your a/c down to ~60F/~15C

I've got 9 fans on my computer, including the ones in my PSU's... yes I have 2 power supplies, one of them is just to run the fans

I want to get a refrigeration unit, but I'd rather spend my money on a new hard drive and more RAM before I start overclocking it...

It'd be cheaper to buy a faster processor (I want to get a 3.6 GHz sometime in the next 2 months) than to spend money overclocking the 2.4 GHz P4 I have now...

I just recieved my case, its quite good for circulation. I was thinking of getting the Stacker by cooler master. It has 8 fans with 2 PSU. But, its a server case so that mean no bringing to LANS. Hopefully I will transfer my stuff to my new case. Im waiting for the 4Ghz to come out and im saving for a 200GB hdd as i only have 2 40gigs Dont know why i got 2 40s but i was stupid

The fan I got is full copper heat sink with a turbo jet dual ball fan. It doesnt sit on top of the cpu...it sits over the whole thing

Its huge but silent, which is good.

Pancake, have you seen the liquid nitrogen cooling units? Its worth the price and you can also mod your case with a door to place food in...you case will certainly become a fridge I was thinking of doing that...but i just dont have the cash yet...maybe when i next upgrade my computer and the time i seriously overclock my cpu.

I was seriously considering watercooling, but the system I really like, you cant seem to get for AMD processors in the UK.

I'm really short on space in my box, the air pump for the lian li aquarium takes up a bit of space, and I've got a full-length soundcard, which is also very space consuming. I'd love to go watercooled though, box runs at 55C atm, but it fluctates from 30-55 in the first hour of it being switched on, which I dont like, I'd rather have it at a constant 45-50C

the problem with a liquid nitrogen cooling system is that the nitrogen needs to be replaced at regular intervals it's a great idea if it could be recycled (like a water cooling system) but impractical since you can get probably an hour of use without repleneshing the liquid nitrogen
