I'm glad you made it and I hope your arm feels better soon. Maybe your fish will miraculously have survived?

Out of curiosity, what did you do to your arm? (you don't have to tell if you don't want to)

I'm glad to hear you're semi-okay....bummer about your arm. I was wondering about you when I heard on the news today that a lot of folks in Okie land were without power....wonder how my ex-in-laws are doing. They have a fireplace, so they won't freeze to death, but no pwer to run the pump to the water...that could be a problem.

Will explain arm later. Fish have survived. All 7 zebra danio. 3 bronze cory, 3 red eyed tetra & the stupid pleco hubby bought. originally had what is in my profile. WE abandoned house sat. afternoon after power was out all night, cause we were freezing. Temp. in tank now is so low, it won't even register.

130,000 in immediate area were without elec.. 28, ooo still without. Then there is other areas in missouri, kansas, and ark.. Guess we are lucky. WE now have water & plumbing in house. Even our motel room was without elec. sometimes in past 4 days. city is working on what water is in their tanks now.
, as water plants are down. phones and even cell phs. have been down also. Trees down all over the place, taking power lines with them. hubby cut his way with chain saw 3 times to get onto our property already to feed and water animals.. trees fall every day. Going to be 2 degrees tonight. So glad we have heat, hope it keeps up! no motel rooms left, but some relatives have elec. on and off, so we can go to one of them.

They are bringing in more help for everything........elec., cutting trees, generators for special places, red cross. parts of city on and off for days. people going from place to place to get warm. Fireplace is safest place if you know someone that has one, as it will not go out like elec.. We were lucky, we got to share motel room with my sisters family, as they rented room early.

wow, sorry, i've ben going on. but noone can remember such an ice storm like this before. no one will forget this one! lives were actually in danger if you couldn't find a source of heat in the freezing rain and sleet and ice covered roads. many kids learned to appreciate what they had........ like heat........... others just complained cause there was no elec. to play video games by, or no cable when there WAS elec..

hubby's mother had tree go through roof, as many other people, and cars. we were lucky, limbs only fell and no holes in roof or windows, so animals, cats, dogs, parrots , parakeet and rabbit all survived, cause no breeze came into the house. but sure smells in here and messy. it's ok.

Sorry about your arm. But glad that everything else's ok. I know what you've been going through. We had the exact monster ice storm here 10 years ago.

Things will get better. Cheers.

Wow, now I'm very worried...neither me or my ex can get a hold of his folks. We know the power is on because their answering machine is picking up, but they're not home and that is VERY unusual for them. I hope they're okay.

What is latest news red? They may have went to friends or motel, if they left early, as here all the lineman got motel rooms. or even shelter they could have went to. Elec. is good but they may have to cut through downed trees to get back in to home. and then hope no trees went through roof or windows.

Check with neighbors, as here people checked on each other as there was no other help a lot of the time. Don't think a state of emergency anymore, bur was declared a disaster area. Worst hit was Mc Alister i think. Don't know if that is near Shawnee.

Thanks for well wishes people. Can't wait to have arm and hand working again! i miss them, when you are right handed. Even bathroom is a pain! literally, much pain just to move body cause everything is attached to arm! ha! Arm was'nt hurt doing anything heroic. Was something silly and hard to believe. Will explain better later.

McAllister is a little ways away from Shawnee. They finally called last night. They had gone to town to replenish their winter stock piles and they all kinds of car problems and flat tire and everything else that go wrong when it's 20 degrees F. They're okay, and they never lost power or had any other problems. Whew, that was a close one.

I hope your arm starts feeling better real soon. I know about that right handed deal. My left hand is basically just for decoration....it's useless. LOL

Well, I'm back home again for the second time. I left after my last post cause we lost elec. again. I've been staying with relatives that had electric. Hubby has been staying here to take care of animals. Elec. will come on for half a day, then off for half. Poor fish tank gets 78 degrees, then down so cold it doesn't even register. But so far the survivors seem to be doing ok..

My sisters family is still without any elec. at all. She has been staying with a relative too. I just called her & invited them to stay here. Guess it's our turn to be hospitable, since other people have been taking US in. Just hope we keep elec. now! I'm so tired of this..... but it could have been worse.

Glad your relatives are fine red. They were some of the really lucky ones.

I started using my arm & hand again yesterday & is even better today. I can type again!! It IS getting sore though, but not painful like before! OK......... this is hard to believe, no one here can believe I was in so much pain, from what I did, but I WAS!!

We have a wind up radio to use in case of emergency. You wind it up a lot & then it plays for about 20 min.. I spent two days winding that thing up for news & entertainment. I noticed my arm getting sore, but kept winding anyway, thinking it was our couch & then the motel bed doing it........ like I was sleeping on it wrong. By the time I figured out it was the constant winding, I couldn't wind anymore anyway! I quit winding but the arm got worse. Excruciating pain to move any part of my body!

The night before it started getting better I couldn't even lay down in any position cause the pain was too terrible. For the first time in my life I slept on & off all night sitting up. I took so many aspirins trying to keep the pain down to where I wasn't crying out in pain all the time (only when I moved) that I lost most of my hearing. People had to holler so I could hear, plus my ears were ringing. But now, only a reg. dose of aspirin once in awhile is fine & I'm hearing better too.

That's what happened to my arm. I don't know if it has a name. I just know that I carried it to the extreme & I will never do anything like that again!! As it turns out a teenager whose house we stayed at broke the radio winding it the wrong direction. So I never have to see that thing again. I will admit it did come in handy when the whole town sold out of batteries though.

Hopefully, this is end of the worst. I may have to leave the house another time or two before it's all over, but at least I have places to go to & a routine down for it now. Ha. Many thousands are still without elec.. The extra emergency linemen have left from here for Texas now cause it's still even worse down there.

A child asked me if I was still interested in my tank & getting more fish for it, cause I wasn't as interested in it as before. I told them I wasn't too interested right now, but maybe someday again, but for right now I was just going to keep things in their right perspective. He seemed to understand what I meant.

Sounds like a repetitive motion injury. Kind of like tennis elbow. Sounds painful I hope it heals up quickly! We can call it "radio arm" so it sounds official

Someone else said they thought it was the worst case of tendonitis they have ever heard of. I told them in my case it must be radioitis.

That doesn't sound very bad, but I was seriously wondering what would hurt worse, what happened to my arm or if I had been shot in it. After taking bone & muscle injury into consideration, I decided getting shot in it was worse. But still the pain was excruciating!

But it IS getting better quickly, thank you. My worst night turned into the best day afterward & is better today, just sore now.

Just saw on the local news that a couple of small towns near here are CLOSED. Now if that isn't something weird to see on the news.
..........................

Just heard that in Oklahoma alone around 30,000 are still without electric.
