My wife seems to be able to utilize 95% of the bed area and leaves me with the last 1%.
LOL James, I do that to my partner too and it drives him nuts I also enjoy starfishing on hot nights(arms and legs splayed out to cover most of the bed)
<--- sleeps on the left side, never feels comfortable unless it's the left side.

My wife sleeps on the right side....and I sleep on the left....because that's were the fan is. Yup, 365 days a year, I have a fan blowing full blast at me...can't sleep without it. Jess is starting to get used to it

I sleep on the right hand side of the bed, lying on my left side - so I have all the rest of the bed space to curl up in or stretch my legs on into

I think I prefer to lay facing away from the window

I guarantee that somebody, somewhere has done their thesis on it....and somebody else has conducted a multimillion dollar study.

Either side works equally well for me, and I sleep equally well on my sides or my back.

At home, the right. The dog sleeps next to the wall. This way I'm at arm's reach of the light, alarm clock, etc.

I sleep in the middle of my bed a school. No way I could sleep on one side, it's a twin...

And then at home I have a full size bed. I sleep on the side that's not right against the wall.

My wife sleeps on the left side, because it's closest to the door.
That way she'll be the first one the kids see when they come in at night (which they do frequently).
We started sleeping that way when our daughter was born and I had a new job all in the same month. With our son it's the same thing; he was born and I got a new job.
My wife doesn't work, so she lets me sleep so that I can get up early.
I know it sounds very traditional, but in our case, ... it works.

(And on weekends I'm the one who gets to comfort the kids in the middel of the night )

Our plan works out fine...

My wife sleeps on one side, our golden retriever in the middle, and I on the other side.

Late at night my face gets washed. I hope it's the dog.

I sleep in the middle of my bed...which is queen sized?

Although, I usually move more towards the side further from the wall during the night.

I thought it was just preference, I didn't think there was logic behind it. It is a very interesting question though.
