So my right foot is all bruised and sore, and my left leg is broken just above the ankle in three places.

get a shopmobility wheelchair and get out into the lovely spring sunshine - it'll help

my bf broke his leg in 5 places over the summer. i was such a nasty girlfriend, got him a chair and made him push himself around right after he came out of hospital. Helped get everything back sorted bodywise after being bedridden for a week.


(Ok, so I did end up pushing him when he got tired )

Yep I am stuck home too I had my gallbladder out and adhesions cut from my liver. They cut me from the middle of my stomach, around the side and onto my back. I am full of staples. I sure as heck wouldn't get through a metal detector right now. They gave me morphine for pain... I didn't realize they would let you take that at home. Funny, how well your fish can talk to you when you are doped up.

you'll probably feel better after the op, it's good to get fractures well stabilised.

Vicodin - that's good stuff isnt it? When my bf was discharged from hospital they gave him 100 paracetamol (tylenol) for the pain. Didnt touch the sides!!

I'm in dallas, texas - its winter here (supposedly)

update : I'm tentatively scheduled for surgery on monday afternoon - it's worse than it looked originally- I've got three breaks, and I'm going to require a couple screws in it as its an unstable fracture.

Ok - I should just move on, but I'm really starting to feel old when I don't know what a fuzzbutt is

Hang in there and just keep yourself busy. I've been stuck home with my asthma and a wicked cough since January 3rd. If they gave you pain pills, chances are you'll get friendly with a sofa or a reclyner instead of the cement. I broke a rib from coughing and I can attest to that. Those pills not only take the pain away, they take the day away (Darvocet).

Hey how is the weather in Aus now? You guys are headed into Winter, no? What's going on there?

Hope your starting to feel better! I had knee surgery of my school break, so i know how your feel! Fortunately my parents like in LA, so at least i got to enjoy warm weather before coming back to school in freezing western PA. If you like reading, i read all the Harry Potters, Nicholas Sparks, and Nicholas Evans!! Also, magazines and talk shows can be your best friends!! Feel better soon!

given my insane work schedule, i would love to take a sit down vacation due to a broken bone. read, watch tv, converse with loved ones. watch the sun rise, watch the sun set. look out your window in the morning and watch the rat race rush to work and wonder "why". write a love letter to your lover. if you are alone, enjoy the silence of an empty house.

take the time in your forced solitude to set practical goals in your life. are you currently where you want to be? if not, can you change things?

capitalize on what you can do, not on what has happened.

It is truly amazing how easily someone can break a bone. I know I broke my foot...don't even ask:%)

So keep that foot elevated, get some movies (Sixth Season of Sex and the City part 2 is out), get some books, drag the computer close, and start taking care of those photos that need to be scrapbooked...that's what I would do if I was you, oh and most important, get caught up on your sleep...Best of luck, feel better soon--Heidi

how'd i do it?

simply put - I decided to get into an argument with the pavement and the pavement won

long story - I stepped off a step into our parking lot, my right foot rolled (i'd broken that one previously so stability has always been an issue), my left one followed and down i went. Knew pretty much right away that it was broken.

So my right foot is all bruised and sore, and my left leg is broken just above the ankle in three places.

ferret - yup, i'm keeping it elevated I get in trouble by the husband if i don't

Broken bones suck Been there done that...

Keep the fuzzbutts around for lots of entertainment. Keep treats on hand so you can get them when needed. Rent a whole bunch of movies and grab a few books, maybe a copy of AFH or two would help pass the time. Just take it easy, and keep it elevated.
