So i'm looking into getting a cable internet connection, so I looked up the minimum system requirements for it. and these are them:
Operating systems: Windows 98se, ME, 2000, XP
Processor speed:300 MHz or higher
Memory: 128MB
Hard drive space: 150 MB of available space
CD-ROM Drive: required
USB Port: Recommended
Browser: IE 6.0 SP1

So here's what I KNOW i've got.
Operating system: Windows XP...got it!
Processor speed:
Memory: I'm pretty sure 128, but don't know for sure.
Hard drive space: I thought that was memory???
CD-ROM Drive: Got it!
USB Port: Pretty sure..that's another plug, similar to the one I have my Digicam plugged into in the back of the mode...right?
Browser: is this Internet Explorer 6.0? If so then I got it too..but what is SP1?

Ok i've looked in my owners manual with no luck, nothing in the specs is listed like they have it. Please be gentle in explaining..i'm computer illiterate. Thanks for the help!

If your computer came with WinXP, it will most likely be able to handle a simple cable internet connection.

You can double check everything if you go to Start>Control Panel>System. Dig around in there and you should be able to find everything

If you have XP you most likely have a Pentium 3 or 4 and don't think you'll have a problem.

Memory: I'm pretty sure 128, but don't know for sure. You'd surely have at least 128 because XP really needs a minimum of 256 and that's not ideal either.

Hard drive space = how much room you have to store your programs and what not.

USB Port: Pretty sure..that's another plug, similar to the one I have my Digicam plugged into in the back of the mode...right? You got it Where that plugs into your PC is the USB port.

Browser: is this Internet Explorer 6.0? If so then I got it too..but what is SP1? Windows Service Pack 1.

If you right click on the "my computer" icon and select "properties" all the answers as to what you have are there on the first tab for you Jess.
Hope that's helped

if you do as rusty suggested and find your "my computer" icon, right click it and select properties, it will tell you everything you're asking about in one window.

You have a pentium 4 with xp. Everything you need is there. And for Internet Explorer.. Just open your home page, then goto Help... About Internet Explorer.. And it will tell you which version and service pack.
Cheers

internet explorer has a seperate service pack over windows xp.

in explorer :

go to the help menu, go down to about, and it should tell you the version number and if it has a service pack.
