I've seen some similar things on Animal Precinct and it's disgusting what they use these dogs for and then what they do to them afterwar

yea, i cant even watch that show, my wife LITERALLY wont let me cause i get so p!$$ed. i have infinite respect for the restraint those officers show when dealing with irresponsible owners. i would lose it on those people. id shoot somebody my first day on the beat ya know? then spray pepper spray in the wounds. id get fired so quick.

I'm sorry your thread went this way Tiger, your dog is a still a beauty

its all good Rusty. better than everybody posting about how "mean and vicious" pitbulls are. there's some site that if i posted pics of my baby girl id get a list of responses about how, "i know a girl, who had a friend, who has a second cousin twice removed, that has an aunt that was mauled by a pitbull." oh yea, well i was once attacked by some old ladie's 3 pomeranians, now thats scary. reminds me of the movie Critters.

I believe greyhounds are sometimes muzzled because ex-racing dogs have a very strong prey drive. That is actually common among most sight hounds-- they see a rabbit umpteen feet away and they're off like a shot. Unfortunately, cats look something like rabbits.

<-- prefers the company of animals rather than people sometimes, well alot of times

It's ok Tiger, I think Troy is agreeing with you
I have found greyhounds to be THE MOST gentle dog in my experience
I agree too Troy and Tiger, they are!
Troy was saying that to own a greyhound (in this country anyway)you need to do as Troy has said. And a special license to own any of the bigger dog breeds is a far better idea than the banning.

You have a greyhound yourself Troy?

I have to have a license for my greyhound plus I have to put a muzzle on it when I walk it outside my yard

wow, thats a bit ridiculous. greyhounds are so sweet-natured, that just blows my mind ]:|.

**as a note** as for the breeds i listed in my last post, i didnt mean to come off as if they were somehow worse than pitbulls. like pitbulls these are all excellent breeds. but again like pitbulls in the wrong hands they can become a rather dangerous animal-(what dog cant?). i was merely trying to show that by getting rid of a few breeds, it only leaves a space to be filled with something else.

I'd like a pittbull licensing law. Hey, I have to have a license for my greyhound plus I have to put a muzzle on it when I walk it outside my yard. I have found greyhounds to be THE MOST gentle dog in my experience.

heres the problem with banning certain breeds and breed-specific legislation. say pitbulls are banned worldwide. ok, fine. first off all ur really doing is hurting the people who are good, law-abiding pitbull owners. pitbulls will start being sold black market style and guess what, the kind of people that go through those kinda connections probably arent the kinda people who need to own pitbulls. dig it? secondly if u get rid of one breed u just open a big, gaping hole for some other breed to fill its spot. its already started. breeds such as tosa inu(japanese fighting dog), presa canerio(imagine a pitbull thats goosed up on 'roids), fila brasileiro(brazilian mastiff),dogo argentino(argentine fighting dog),cane corso(italian mastiff breed). all brought into communities that have banned pitbulls,am staffs,n staffies. so the politicians can make their laws, smile, kiss babies, and preach on how theyre making the world a safer place without pitbulls. but they will probably just make things that much worse. isnt that what most politicians do? hell, its probably in their job description.

I am in no way making light out of dog attacks dude and I'm sorry if that's the way I came across because it's awful what a dog can do. My brother was attacked by a dog (blue heeler I think?) when he was a child and he still has scars on his scalp and the owner (a farmer)took the dog and shot it as soon as he heard.

It's just the banning certain breeds thing seems an utterly stupid, knee jerk reaction to some horrifying attacks we've had here just recently
Labs attack, retrievers have attacked, border collies, german sheperds. You name it, if the dog is over the toy size then it can do damage.
The onus falls on us as dog keepers and WE need to be better regulated and educated, parents also need to be educated.
Dogs are a valuable asset to the lonely, vision and hearing impaired, elderly and the rest of us that gain the friendship of these great animals.
Banning is unfair and who knows where it will stop

My golden retriever's bigger than most of the pit-bull breeds I've met, but no one's suggesting we ban her. If it were actually based on size, like Germany's dog laws, it - nope, still would be pretty idiotic.
Less than twenty people are killed per year by dogs, yet we're willing to ban them? Um, can we say "free society"? Almost as many people are killed by vending machines in a typical year, after all ....

well i was once attacked by some old ladie's 3 pomeranians, now thats scary
it kinda backs up my point that most dogs can attack, not just the big ones.

If there were no more pitbulls they would just use something else... and they do
The amazing thing is that they are able to rehabilitate some of these animals to become great friends for the correct owners.

yes, thats a very smiley dog Tiger9.

My Aunties dog (a rotweller) was once a much loved family member untill one day when they were out on its daily walk. a passing motorist beeped their car horn. This sent the dog crazy and it mauled my cousin. They gave that dog everything it needed and it still turned out to be savage.

But of course this has nothing to do with Tiger9s pictures.

Please forgive me, but this is one of the reasons for the popularity of the pitbulls, to the pitbulls' detriment:

Warning, graphic pictures, dog needs help and donations. Victim of dogfighting: (AGAIN GRAPHIC, WARNING)

http://www.tricountyanimalrescue.net/gypsy.aspx

Be also aware that these people steal pets and come get dogs offered as "free dogs" to use for practice for their dogs.

Yep. Irresponsible owners and a stupid government have ruined it..again. Banning a dog breed is rediculous.

I've been lucky enough to know a beautiful pitbull and she was the most loving dog. Last time I seen her she was in real pain with arthritis but she let me sit down with her and pat her gently and console the poor girl
Pit bulls, like most dogs can do real damage to children but the problem is not limited to just pitbulls. The problem is irresponsible owners. Let's ban them ]:|
As per usual it's the idiots that spoil it for everyone
