Wow moondog, last time I stood on that porch looking out, the sun was shining, the trees were leafing, and we were all galloping off to the river to chase squirrels.

I really can't get my head around a place that changes so dramatically from one season to the next. Over here spring is an almost fluorescent lime green, summer is bright green under an unbearably sizzling sun, autumn is green tinged with brown, and winter is dark green against a grey sky.

Not that I'm complaining about green. Some of my best friends are green.

Smantzer, That is before the trucks come through kicking up slushy snow n dirt and making big piles of the stuff on the street corners right.?. That is also before you have to track it all into your house. That is before you have to dig your car out of the stuff every morning. That is before you have to sit in the cold for 15-20 Min's waiting on your car to warm up just so you can see outa the windows. Then there is all the salt you have to deal with.

I hate snow!

I lived most of my life in Minnesota, and snowy winter started before Halloween, ended around Easter!! I love the way snow looks. In MN, the branches would become covered with ice and the snow would be so white and cover everything, and the sun was so bright that it all sparkled and Ooooo....

I've said it before and I'll ask it again? What the heck is snow? Here it is December, and I'm running around in short sleaves, shorts and sandals...was chilly for a couple of days, and well...it's Texas what can I say...One season year round...Hot, Hotter, Hottest, Hotter...or is that 3 seasons? we had a little snow last night and it was nice and slushy in spots coming to work. Its pouring right now. I would rather 5' of snow than -30º any day. (that should be here soon enough) My friend came up to see me the other day and he said he wore his long johns because he didn't know what it was going to be like above the "arctic circle". heehee

Bla Snow!

Snow is pretty for about five minutes. Then you realize that you have to deal with it.

Do I find it funny that my windows won't roll down cause they are frozen? No.

Yes, I think I will stay in Florida. Bad Snow BAD!

Personally, I can't wait for snow. The winter over here is supposed to be chillier and wetter than usual, though that has not been the case so far.

After spending 30+ years in MI and a year in ON, I'm quite happy with the rain and 50° weather we're having here in MD right now

I would build a snow cory if it wasn't raining.

EDIT: do the cories have to be non-gender-specific too?

We probably wouldn't have that big hole in the sky above us if you Northerners didn't have such a love affair with CFCs http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ozone_hole But don't worry I've sent a buddy of mine down to Antarctica with a giant cork... the hole won't be a problem for much longer.

Meanwhile back to the snow... we should have a FishProfiles non-gender-specific-snow-person building contest! Bonus points for anyone who builds a snow-cory or a snow-loach

you'd probably have different weather if you didn't have that big hole in the sky above you

Well that's a puny snow if I ever saw one. Back when I was a kid growin up in Wisconsin we wouldn't even mention that much, wasn't even worth noticin.

Back then by December we had so much snow piled up you couldn't see the cars parked in front of the house. You had to find a cut in the snowbank to get out to the street. I had to walk 2 miles to school every day, through drifts up to my armpits and it was uphill both ways.

Boy it's fun being an oldtimer, Mike
