lol it's not harsh, it's just how they are. Come on, I said they were cute!

Glad to hear they aren't in the same cage.

you want to talk about fangs, get a guine pig. They could eat your ferrets and hampsters if they wanted to. I think hampsters fight, unless they are from the same litter. I bred hampsters once and they all got along fine.

In my experience... rodents in general are stinky and kind of boring. But they are darned cute

Jeeeze, bit his head off, though? That's freaky stuff. :%)

Actually, it's more like syrians WILL fight, and dwarfs MIGHT fight. I have 2 dwarfs that fought and had to be sepertated. It's really the same as when people say it depends on your betta's personality if he can have tank mates or not. It's true that dwarfs usually don't fight. But there are no guarantees, except that syrians WILL fight.

Hamsters are great!

I have 2 male dwarfs myself.

If your looking for a good hamster community, I like:

http://groups.msn.com/Hamstersgalore/

it's a lot like this place, but for hamsters. Very nice people. I'm 'Beefshank' over there as well.

zebra hamsters are cute, i've owned so many, but never again.

they ARE cute, but mostly, boring, very dumb, pee a lot and bite.

are your hamsters in the same cage? i hope not.

I used to own 5 ferrets, and have been bitten to the point of almost needing stitches from them, but I would still trust a ferret more than a hampster. I used to run the small animal department at a pet supply store in the area, and ANY time someone wanted a hampster, I would make them reach in and pick their own, or I would scoop it up in a cup. As much as I love all animals, only one hampster ever came in that I trusted. At the same time, I did all the gerbil breeding for all the pet stores in the area and at any one time could have as many as 100 gerbils in my house. Hampsters are really the only little rodent I don't trust. Currently we have a rat. It seems like hampsters are one of those pets you either love or you just don't... but I think gerbils are the same way. Oddly enough, any person I ever met who was in love with gerbils wanted nothing to do with hampsters, and any person I knew who was in love with hampsters wanted nothing to do with gerbils. The assistant manager who worked at the same store would handle any of the hampsters, but you could not get her to put her hand in the gerbil tank because she was so afraid of being bitten.

Congrats on your new little furry friends though! I would go with the black bear... they really are cute.

LOL, that's a good point. Although I have glimpsed into the jaws of ferrets, there are some big chompers in there!

Congratulations on the hamster!
