I am a little worried that they changed the gap from the OE gap to a different one for their plugs. It may not seem like much but there is a big difference between .039 and .044. I trust Ford engineers recommendations over an aftermarket manufacturers.... Chiltons and Haynes both recommend the .044 as well for 460's....

Gotta be honest I'm sticking with my Bosch's

I've tried a lot of different plugs in my time, but I've gone back to copper electrode NGK's.

I have a turbo subaru, and originally it was running NGK platys. They're fine but for the price you pay, they don't last long. I then went to bosch platys and they're disastorous. In two batches I had spark plugs that were earthing to the engine at high revs causing complete fuel and spark cuts, not fun.

I tried Iridium plugs but on cold days they have a tendency to get wet and then run erratically.

NGK copper electrode plugs in the right heat range work exceedingly well and are cheap to replace. The only thing is you've gotta do it a whole lot more often!

Just my 2c.

Ussally you don't need NGK plugs unless you have nitrous or a turbo in your Honda, although never herd of a problem with useing them with out. Hondas push alot spark espically if you drive your car hard wich can reak havic on most plugs. I have a natural asperated Integra pushing 210 hp and destroy plugs I'll be puting in NGK's soon(but i have and MSD cap and coil and 9.3 wires pushing more spark) One of my friends has a civic dyno tested with 540 hp at the wheels with 12lb of boost he uses NGK plugs. If they can handle the beating we put on them they should handle yours. As long as there is nothing else wrong. Sorry about the first sentance in my first post i read the thread wrong at first. And sorry about the pic mess first time attaching pics to a post. To add to the mess some of us go through my 300zx 2 plugs you need to remove throtle body and intake and still need a special tool to remove/ install

And that van of your dad's reminds me of mine. I'll snap a pic tonight. It is so dang hard to reach anything. Nightmare would be a better word.

I would get AC delco (good old gm brand)

AC delco?? i don't even waste my time with that stuff besides, why would i want a gm part in a honda?

koi, that reminds me of my dad's old minivan. his power steering was leaking, but to get to the power steering pump, you had to TAKE OFF THE HOOD, then the alternator, then the top radiator hose, then a few emission lines, then the heat shield and *then* you *might* have a chance of getting your hand into the engine cavity to *touch* the hoses, but good luck getting something on the hose clamps to get it loose

NGK is only good for small engines like lawnmower engines, not cars, they suck for cars.

I would get AC delco (good old gm brand)

Plug number 5 for me is behind the alternator, under the bracket behind the smog pump, but can't be reached from the bottom of the engine. I feel your pain.

On my commercial van I had to remove most of everything off of the top of the engine just to reach the last plug.

This picture tells all about reaching those left side plugs:

i hate automotive engineers when they design stuff like that to try to force me to go to their mechanics instead of doing my own work

Indeed. It took me nearly an hour once to change the turn signal bulb

Well, moondog may be luck, me not so much.

my honda's plugs are straight down through the valve cover ]:| and my spark plug socket ALWAYS gets stuck when i change them ]:|]:| not quite your problem, but still annoying. then there is my buick regal, which has 3 on each side of the engine, but one side is up against the firewall, and i need 2 knuckles and a VERY short extension to have a chance at getting them out. i hate automotive engineers when they design stuff like that to try to force me to go to their mechanics instead of doing my own work ]

You guys are lucky; about the time you've buttoned everything up I'm still pulling plugs from hard to reach areas of the tight engine cavity. I have 8 to install.

Well, moondog may be luck, me not so much. I also have 8. Actually I wouldnt even attempt to change the plugs in my car. You can only actually see a couple of them, the rest are neatly tucked up underneath the dash. The engine is quite crammed. From reading about it, it sometimes takes people who are mechanically inclined up to a couple hours to change plugs in the same car as mine. Something I'd rather not deal with.

Of course, others have mastered the art.

I've heard good things about NGK's as well.

You should be able to afford them. The 'Regular' class ones for my car would only run $2.24 a piece. That won't break that bank. And you only need 4 anyways.

The premium ones are as much as $11 a piece, but I doubt youd need anything that good for your econo box.

NGK

hmm, my "foreign crap" is 80% american made, everything but the transmission...

and the warranty people decided to replace all four injectors under warranty instead of the one defective one

will look for those plugs next time i go shopping, but i like the bosch cause they're good *and* i can afford them

That's what you get for buying foreign crap.

Bench clean all 4 injectors and forget that garbage tar you sludge into your fuel tank.

Oh, and NGK is infinately better than bosch.

also forgot to mention: a couple guys i know who work the pit crew of a semi-pro track SWEAR by stp injector cleaner. they say that other cleaners eat away at the fuel lines over time, but stp doesn't.
