i have the odb2 scanner, which is under the dash, not in the engine compartment. it was telling me "misfire cylinder #2" (obviously from the injector), and "wait to start lamp circuit" anyway, it was running so rough after i changed the plugs that i knew it wasn't just the plugs this time. and i probably *could* have changed the injector myself, but i really don't have the time to bother with it, especially when i can get it done by warranty

The codes are listed on the internet Next time you need a code let me know. I routinely pull codes from my EEC. Most people don't realize just how much the computer will tell you.

Glad to read that you narrowed it down to the fuel system. Those injectors really aren't too bad if you had had to do it yourself.

i took the car to the dealer's today since my handheld computer isn't specific enough to what the computer codes mean. but apparently my #2 fuel injector has gone bad. thank goodness for warranties, or else i would be SOL for finding the money to fix it.

I am going to finish this up just by saying I would look furthur into your engine for reasons it could be misfiring. Granted plugs and wires are a very common reason, but with anything on an engine their are multiple probable causes. I would run fuel injector cleaner through it if you haven't lately. I use Lucas, some seriously good stuff. I would also check your air filter (seems simple but you'd be surprised), and your O2 sensor. Next would be the ignition system.

For your computer to be generating codes off of misfiring the misfire has to be something like 50'% or more off range to trip the code which is something to be concerned about. Since it has happened more than once you need to figure it out, but everything I have listed here is easy things you can check.

I run the Bosch Platinum Plugs in my Ford F-350 with no troubles at all. Platinum is always going to be better than copper when talking about wear and performance. Platinum plugs spark more efficiently and reliably as well as last longer.

I am going to be honest, mnost people install their own spark plugs and then wonder why they have issues with them. If they are not buying certain plugs they need to be properly gapped, pregapped plugs should never be gapped or changed from the factory set gap. A lot of amatuers replace their spark plugs and then do not reinstall them with the proper torque. My torque wrench alone was $160.00, but it is absolutely necessary to the proper installation of certain engine components. Too tight or too loose are both not good for your plugs. A lot of people think their version of "tight" is just fine but then notice decreased performance because they don't check within a week of normal driving to be sure the engine has not vibrated any of the newly installed plugs any looser. I guess it is a little more of a concern for someone like me with a 460 engine that has quite a bit of rumble to it, but I have found plug movement on my small block engine in the van.

Really I am waiting for a squish which is notched like the patented one submitted in India to come out. That will be the future of spark plugs. We've got about 5-10 years, but after that you'll see a heck of a change in the way plugs are made which is going to translate into a major fuel savings and emmissions reduction.

Try them out. Bosch garuntees that you'll feel a difference or your money is refunded and they mean it.

On a side note, your friends having problems with their plugs should be able to tell EXACTLY what is wrong simply by looking at the plugs. Plugs that wear funny do so in such a way that you know what is wrong. Everything from carbon deposits, to burning, oil saturation, ashing etc tell you exactly what is wrong with the engine.

~ I can give pictures of my past spark plugs with notations of what the different problems are which are represented by the conditions. Or maybe scan out of one of my manuals. I just finished my front engine rebuild, but I think the one I want is still in the back of my truck.

I use stock type AC Delco or Bosch platinum plugs. The split fire, plus2 or plus 4 plugs are pretty much a waste of money unless you're running a hotter than stock ignition.

mikey are you talking about the normal platinums or platinum+4? the +4 plugs have the 4 electrodes instead of the one.

anyway, i say my civic doesn't like them because i've had 2 misfire codes come up on my computer (3 since i've had the car for about 1.5 years). don't know if it's the honda engine or the plugs hopefully it's the plugs, then i can just get different plugs and not worry about misfires, cause i'm supposed to take the car in to the dealer every time that stupid engine light comes on

From what I've read on various car boards, a lot of cars don't get along with Bosch Platinums. There is actually a class action lawsuit aganist Bosch because of those plugs. It hasnt been an uncommon problem for them to 'blow up' and cause some serious car problems. Don't know if thats only in certain cars, but that certainly isn't something I'd wish to deal with. If you want to stick with Bosch, use the regular ones.
