Oh, and for the record, I've been up close and personal with one of these at Chester Zoo. Let me tell you, a Siberian Tiger is one huge cat. The paws alone are big enough to cover an area equivalent to an adult man's face. And when it unsheaths the claws lurking in those paws, they're bigger than my middle finger - over 4 inches. This particular individual was tipping the scales at nearly 700 pounds. You could put a saddle on an animal that size and ride it. Although if you tried saddling this Tiger, then you'd get what you deserved when it decided that you'd look far better inside its stomach than on its back ![]() Oh yes. Impressive beastie. Call it 'Sir' and treat it with the utmost respect. ![]() ![]() |

They've been renamed - they're all now in the Genus Coius. Coius microlepis is the most commonly seen species. And it can get pretty large. Nothing that keepers of big, bad tempered Cichlids can't handle, but they need watching, especially if there's more than one Tiger Fish in an aquarium. But if you have enough space to keep these beasties, they make an impressive sight. ![]() |
