ok...

There was this help group that all had horrible deaths in their families or whatever. These were the "elders" and they locked that stuff up in a box. The history teacher of the group had a social experiment in his mind....and zappo back to the 1800's.

I figured something was up when I saw that all the elders had something in the past in the other "towns" and somehow got into the village. It just didn't make since that everyone could past the creatures to get INTO the town but couldn't pass to get OUT. Thats when I figured that they were hiding something.

Another thing was that the elders told the whole town NOT to worry about the creatures, that they were not going to do anything, but the main elder (the professor) made the children VERY afraid of the creatures. To me that was putting a fear into the children, and then having the creatures "attack" kept the fear in the adults.

Also, one thing that struck me odd was Noah. Back in that time, a mentally handicaped person would not have been treated like an equal (with special needs). He would have been condemned of being evil or possesed or something to that matter.

ANOTHER thing that I saw was that the housed were built in a modern way. They just looked out of place to me.

Overall I liked it.

i realized the ivy thing, lol i thought that was a cool connection. I just thought that they guy didnt see him take the medicine, and i didnt pick up on that whole alley thing either, it makes so much more sense now. and i screamed at that part too, along with a couple others, like when she falls in the ditch i was excpecting that to be a cliff or something, and when lucius grabs ivy's hand instead of the monsters.

*this post (not that it matters by now) will spoil it if you haven't seen it yet*

Racso and I saw it Wednesday. Here's my take on it:

It definitely isn't what I was expecting. I was expecting... a horror movie. It isn't one at all. I only jumped once, when the watchman opened his trapdoor, thinking Lucius was there, only to see a red cape go by. I only jumped because the lady sitting next to me screamed

I had it figured out from the first time the elder told Ivy that her sister never lived past 23 and was killed by men in an alley. That's when I thought "an alley in the 16-1800s?! AH HA! They must be a village stuck in a time warp and the 'towns' are modern." or something like that.

Why didn't an elder go after the medicine? 3 reasons: 1) To continue making their story believable. They had to maintain their fear of the beasts so everyone else would continue to fear them. 2) Ivy, being blind, didn't see the modern world. 3) Everyone knew that Noah had gone into the woods, so the elders needed an exscuse to cover why he hadn't been attacked. Simple- the beasts took pity on him because of his handicap. Surely they'd do the same for Ivy.

Did anyone else find it odd/interesting that the girl's name is Ivy and her side of the fence is covered in ivy? To me that symboloizes that they are both a link between the 2 worlds. But then again I'm a dork like that

The man at the station reading the paper was obviously very involved with the village and knew everything. When the other guy opened the refrigerator to get the bottles, you could see the newspaper guy looking at him in the reflection. He didn't say anything about the "stolen medicine" because he knew exactly what it was for and what had happened.

Overall, once I got over the fact that this isn't a horror, I liked it. However, I think I would have liked it a lot more if it had been more complex. To me it was just too easy.

I have never left halfway through a movie. Tickets are wayyy to expensive to do that. If the movie sucks, then find other ways to occupy yourself. I had a lot of fun annoying my best friend's ex-gf with him, who sat in front of us when I seen it.
You just got to make the best of bad situations. Plus, any reason to go out and do something other than sitting in your house is a good one, so why not have fun?
I thought the acting was so-so in this movie. Certain things seemed kind of weird...
Overall, I thought it was a good movie, but it could have been better. They did make it seem like a horror movie, but it wasn't, although there were a couple of times I jumped. I just wish the monsters were real. Oh well.

The acting was very good, the problem I think was the movie was made out to be a horror movie, and it was almost a romance instead...the fact that there was really not a bad guy was what I really hated. I wouldn't have left though, b/c you didn't know who the bad guy was till a lot later in the movie.

The only movie I left half way through was Disneys the Haunted Mansion...omg I couldn't stand that one.

I think that is pretty disrespectful. The acting was very good in this movie, it actually had a well thought out plot too. I guess nothing exploded so it sucked.

I think that the people in the village are too scared of the creatures to notice who is missing. "I ran into so-and-so's house" is all the explanation they would really need.

About Noah - He died. They didn't leave him there to die. They also said to his mom that they'd go fetch him and give him a proper burial.

Do the Elders spill the "beans"? Good question. But I don't think so. At least not right away, and definitely not to everyone.

Remember that the girl who left was blind. She didn't see the car, didn't know what it was. It's still the 1800's to her. She also doesn't know she's in a "nature preserve".
The question was raised "who is going to lead everyone when the elders die?" That is when they might tell a few chosen people. Maybe the blind girl and the guy from Gladiator...the other main character. (If you can't tell I'm great with remembering names)

Okay, that helps me, now I have a question, wouldn't the ppl in the amish type country notice that an elder is missing whenever there is an attack? And how come they just left Noah to die out there? And do they keep going on with their life, or do the elders spill everything?

Did anybody see the Village yet? What were your thoughts...I saw it the other day and I feel they didn't put enough details in it, I'm still confused, and I can't believe it ended so quick...

When I seen it I was like....."Huh?"
I understood it but I couldn't form an opinion to it.
Then I talked to other people who had sene it, I already knew what was coming, so I could pay attention to smaller details that I had missed, and I decided that I liked it.
