Life is scary. Relationships are scary. Committment is scary.Growing up is scary. Reponsibility is scary. That's why it's all so much fun. Alcohol doesn't change that. It's just running away. We've all been there one way or another.

Embrace the fear ! Live life my friend. Most of life is just one big leap of faith, so close your eyes and jump
Just don't look down !!!!!

Some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue.

Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability.

Since getting drunk and partying hard are honestly not requirements for being young and having fun no matter what anyone may think, I would say there may be a little more going on than just a simple growing up thing.

It really doesn't matter what age you are, if you have "sobered up after being a drunk" you now have to come to terms with the realization that life is scary and you don't have the safety net of alcohol to soften the blows anymore....

Seriously, you may want to think about getting some assistance discovering good, healthy ways to handle stress and improve your life management skills. It may help to make the future not so scary to you, and also help to keep your new lady with you along the way!!

Hang in there.
L.

I've never felt commitment-scare. But an ex did. I'll assume it happens often. Regardless... growing up sucks. And I'm only 16. But just because your life changes, you marry, someday have kids, stop getting drunk and partying hard, it doesn't mean the fun stops or that the laughter does. It's all the same, just with more responsibility and, consequently, more reward.

And though it’s red blood bleeding from her now. It's more like cold blue ice in her heart.
She feels like kicking out all the windows. And setting fire to this life."

Agree with Moondog on this one. It just sounds like you are growing up/into your age. Take things slow, think of the relationship as your fish tank...the slower the better, give it time to mature.

sounds to me like you're just growing up and becoming an adult. there is no reason to deny yourself happiness with your lady, just don't rush things and let them happen on their own time.
