Never heard of it, but cant be all that great....You cant really overdose your tank with Good Bacteria....So, whatever it was suppose to do to kill the chemicals, did much more than that.......If your looking for something to remove Chemicals, Meds, etc....Just use Carbon...unless your talking about Chemicals such as Chlorine/Chloromine which just needs a water conditioner treatment.....

what is BUNK?

i added it to the tank anxiously last nite and this morning tested the water and it seemed to have levelled out everything in the tank.. the ph was steady on 7 and there was no ammonia, nitrate or nitrite in the tank..
the fish looked perkier as well. so i dont know.. it seems to be ok to use... i was worried adding it cos i hadnt heard of it either...

I've used it in my livebearer tank instead of traditional water agers/conditioners for over a year with no adverse effects. It does a very good job of keeping the water clear and after the first time I added it (the tank went very cloudy) it clears the water quite quickly.

As for those who have only negative comments (like completly pointless ones such as 'BUNK') have you actually tried it, know ANYTHING about it, or even get it where you are?

i agree with you janenenc
.. i found it to be quite useful in stabilising everything..i was a bit worried but it seems to be ok.. i posted last nite before i added it to the tank but as i got no responses i decided just to see what wold happen.
did you have any after effects...like problems with the ammonia or ph or anything?
i read the huge leaflet that came with it but it didnt really say much about after effects...
also did you use melafix or pimafix or any other meds after using it? i was wondering if it neutralised them because im looking to treat my fish still with melafix and pimafix but arent quite sure if they are gng to work?

I haven't actually used it while using melafix so I can't comment on that one. I did add it once when I had to treat a tank with Levimisole for worms and the tank went very cloudy. It didn't seem to clear the tank which only cleared after 5 waterchanges over several days (everything in the tank was coated with a slimy film). I have been told by a reliable LFS person that the slime was caused by the meds breaking down.

I haven't noticed any change in PH either - but then my livebearers are kept in normal Brisbane tapwater (changed on Tuesday or Wednesday before the water is treated).

When my tanks were relatively new some of the fish would 'flash' and scrape their sides on the gravel, plants etc but when the water was tested by me and the LFS Ammonia, Nitrates, Nitrite etc readings were all looking ok. They suggested I try the Geo-Liquid. I don't know what the irritation was in the water but for whatever reason Geo-Liquid seemed to help.

I say "bunk" because I cannot believe the claims they make...No I haven't tried it, nor will I.

To claim that it doesn't work on the chemical level is totally disingenuous. They also claim that it has "micro-sensors" in it to monitor the water's quality and immediately correct for imbalances on the molecular level. Well if that isn't chemistry, what is? Just ask yourself why they don't list a table of ingredients! Of course, they will claim that it's a proprietary formula.

If it seems to work for you, congratulations. I just want to point out that their claims don't make sense and nothing can replace improving our knowledge of the complex things going on in our tanks. "Magical cures" generally aren't magical, and are hardly ever "cures".

The only "magical cure" for poor water quality that I've come across that actually works is proper aquarium maintenance. Nothing more, nothing less.

i didnt actually get any cloudiness however the sheet that came with it did say that it does cause cloudiness but should clear overnite if you had good filtration.
i havent noticed any slime coating but will have a look when i get home tonite.. he sold it to me to try n break down the meds as well.. and it seems to have work .. and because i was in a pretty desperate state im claiming 'magical cure'. ill do some more testingon the water tonite to see if it does hold the ph and ammonia etc.
they seemed ok this morning.
thanks for replying janenenc! i havent had anyone else write that has had any experiences with it and considering you havent mentioned any after effects i guess everything should be ok from here on!

So, you're adding another chemical in the hopes it will fix something. I must be missing something here.

d I haven't used it myself but I do know that my boss highly recommends it -which says alot she doesn't do that often-.
So, you're adding another chemical in the hopes it will fix something. I must be missing something here.

I don't know about the components in Geoliqud but I do know that the Rep over here actually drinks the stuff to prove that it will do no harm (he did it at a trade expo recently). I don't think he would be so desperate for sales that he'd do that if it was chock full of harmful chems.

My boss said that the worse the quality of your water the cloudier it will go and the longer it will stay that way.

Ohh...in case your wondering why my boss would care about Geo liquid I work for a fish wholesaler. She does use it.
HTH.

I've seen it regularly at the LFS's around here. Yes, the claims are a bit out there if you know what I mean.
BUT many people do swear by it! Having never used it myself I cannot comment, however I have read a fair amount about it.

One thing I have read about it is that it's NOT an alternative to using a de-chlorinator (removing chlorine/chloramine) which I think is very important to remember. If I can find the link, someone had an experience where they lost most of their fish due to using geo liquid as a 'broad' water treatment thinkng it would remove chlorine as well, which is not true.

Also, what's with having a geo-liquid for each species of fish? Seriously, as if that's not stupid propaganda made up for "clever" people to buy more of it. They even have geo liquid for plants... that one made me laugh.

Personally I would rather spend my money on better filters/cleaning equipment.
