Temperament: Schooling; Peaceful. Excellent for community tanks, though they will sometimes intimidate other fish with their active swimming. These tetras shouldn't be kept with shy fish for that reason. Silvertip Tetras tend to be slightly nippy as well, especially when not kept in large groups.

Gender: Male and female silvertips are distinctly different in coloration. In breeding condition, the male Silvertip Tetra is a coppery orange colour while the females are a golden yellow. A female is pictured above.

Comments: Silver Tip Tetras are best kept in schools of six or more, because they are schooling fish. These tetras become very beautiful when kept in a tank with good lighting, as it makes their colors shine.
