Temperament: Territorial; One of the more peaceful fish of the Cichlasoma family, they tend to keep to themselves and generaly will not go out of their way to attack other fish.
Diet: Ominvore; Ominvore
Care: Flake, frozen food and live food. Avoid keeping with small fish such as tetras, and danios. Does best in a geographical aquarium, but can be kept with fish of simular size from other families.

Gender: Can be difficult. Some females have a black spot on their dorsal fin. Fully grown adult males have extended dorsal and anal fins.
Breeding: Simular to Thorichthys meeki. The fish are open breeders and can lay up to 500 eggs. Both parents guard the eggs and care for the fry.

Comments: These are very nice fish, they are entertaining to watch. They need and substrate of fine gravel or sand with hiding places created out of rocks and roots. Leave open ares for swimming. On a side note, accidental release from fish farmers, has led to these fish having established colonies within the state of Florida, USA.
