Breeding: | As with most sunfish, said species requires a cooling period (2 weeks at a relatively cool temperature, then a gradual increase in temperature, accented with heavy feeding and longer photoperiod), which is not to say that a chiller is necessary provided they are housed in a reasonably cool area. Males will ggaurd the fry with vigor. |
