| Reason: | Crossocheilus siamensis is the correct scientific name for the Siamese Algae Eater. Unfortunately, the fish we have all sought after as "the true SAE" is not the SAE but actually the Red Algae Eater (Crossocheilus langei). Crossocheilus siamensis has never been widely circulated in the aquarium trade. The "true" SAE described in this article is the Red Algae Eater. This explains why so many people have experienced mixed results with their supposed true SAE. It is about time we begin to properly identify this fish! Crossocheilus langei. | ||
