Reason:Original entry was too casual about water quality for this species. Have seen many that languish in suboptimal conditions, and have over a dozen specimens myself. They too start developing slime layer problems around the mouth and eyes if not given the cleaner water qualities. Nitrate much above 15-20 ppm causes problems.
Old Text:Not demanding and very hardy fish. An easy to keep fish, if given the proper requirements. Should be kept in schools of at least two males to several females to show their best colors and activity. This fish can get to 15 cm in length, and 6 cm in body depth. With this size, and the need to be in schools, it is recommended they are kept in a large tank with plenty of open swimming area. 55 gals being the recommended minimum size. These fish will do great in a live planted tank. Coming
