In the future, I intend to set up a bunch of ten gallons... one with each of my betta boys and a school of small tetras or rasboras. I think cardinals look sweet in a nice planted tank, and I've seen some that have an almost purple-blue stripe.

Overall, I'm not the biggest fan of tetras, but I can see having them in a small tank like this.

Other than that, I enjoy my 12 gallon (same footprint as a 10, just a few inches taller). I've got three young betta girls in there and male guppies. Male guppies are just fun to watch, always on the move and flashing their tails at everyone. I just have to laugh when I see them parading their finnage for the passing betta girls who couldn't care less about them.

~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~

If you could only have a 10 gal. what fish would you have? The fish you like the most that would fit in a 10 gal.(invertebrates such as shrimp, snails, etc. also included).

My first choice would be about 10 Pygmy Cories and a show-quality male Betta.
My second choice would be 5 African Dwarf Frogs and 3 male fancy Guppies.

I would definitely go with either a Male Betta and a school of Neon or Cardinal Tetras.

Or...

a Bunch of Male Guppies.(different colors and types) That is lots of color and movement for you to watch. Don't get any females because I am sure you know how prolific of a fish they are. They are fun to watch and ver friendly.

In either tank I would have it well planted if you are going to use live plants. It helps with the water quality and its pretty to have lots of plants.

A dimly-lit tank with a white sand substrate, a few bright green plants, a dark cave, and a group of kuhli loaches. It'd be awesome!

I just got a 10g. I am going to put 2 ottos, 6 harlequin rasboras, 6 panda corys and my male betta Buddy in. I have planted it and am eagerly waiting for it to cycle so I can get some fish. This thread inspired me as to what tankmates would fit in with Buddy. I still like the idea of having many 10g tanks, then I could also have shellies! Maybe someday.

So not fair, I can only afford one 10 or 15 gallon tank, and I am now in love with the shellies. Anyone want some Barbs? Nah, kidding, I am still enjoying them, I like the idea of having lots of 10 gal tanks, then I could have all the set-ups I want.

in one of my 10 gallons i have it heavely planted with water sprite, a few rock caves here and there, a clump of spanish moss wire (the part of the moss that wont rot, takes a long time to get it to that point) held down with a rock and a piece of wire (i think..its been a while sence i have seen it lol) in it i have about 6 guppys, loads of fry, a ramshorn snail i caught wild, a few pest snails (makes great shrew snacks)

in my other 10 gallon that i just reset up (was a betta barrack) i added a couple small water sprite babys, some fake plants a bunch of grown bulbs from walmart (sorry, dont remember what they are) and today im gunna add a few stray rocks, in there i have a male betta, 7 guppies and a male molly, i love my other tank and how it looks with all the fry, so im gunna attempt the same in this tank, but obviously when the fry get older they will be removed to the 55 gallon (after they are beyond snack size for the sunfish)

but thats what i did
