what size tank would a arapaima gigas needs? 15 feet wow!

i would love to see one of these in a local public aquarium, what about a 14,000 gallon tank with arapaima and RTCF and some other tankbusters, that would be a cool tank.

Well it'd obviously have to be something rather enormous. It'd basically be too expensive to keep an adult Arapaima gigas in the home, and it pushes the limit on public aquariums too; building a set-up large enough for an adult is nigh impossible, which is why most captive arapaimas are significantly smaller than fully-grown. The only one I've seen in person was a mere 5' long. Quite frankly, most public aquariums prefer building large enclosures for sharks rather than arapaimas.:%)

There's a couple at the Henry Doorley Zoo in Omaha, NE. I never really thought that much of them...just that they're freakin' huge

They have 'em in an artificial river thing in a psuedo asian rainforest thing
