Hi all!
I transferred my fish and my apple snail into my 90g tank about a week ago now. I noticed yesterday that my apple snail wasnt coming out of its shell, and after some watching, I saw my queen botia happily dance over the snail and was nibbling on it!!!
I promptly removed the snail to my 25g with the gupps and platies. She came out right away almost and started munchin away on the front glass. I noticed her big beautiful foot has been nibbled away quite a bit!!!
Will she be ok? Will this grow back? I dont know much about snails. Should I add melafix or just let it take its course?

Well, loaches/botias have the habit of munching on snails. I assume melafix would help it heal faster, but you shouldn't put your snail back in the same tank as your queen botia, lest you want the snail to be fish food.

When the apple snail gets big, would it be ok to be with the botia? It is about as big as a golf ball right now.
Say tennis ball size?

MOst people buy loaches/botias for their habbit to eating snails. OF course among other reasons such as cuteness ans personality.

Even if the snail gets big enough your fish can't eat it they will harass it to death. Possibly keeping it from coming out till it starves and nipping off it's tentacles and eye stalks. I lose clams to my yoyo loaches that way and they bothered my 2 large applesnails alot. I had to move them to a different tank so they could get food.
