There is a lot of algae growing on my snail's shell, should I clean him off? I just want to make sure this isn't unhealthy for him.

Do you have algae issues in the tank itself or is it just on your snail?

Do you know what type of algae it is?

BTW welcome to the site .

Hi,
Here is one of many sites that show various examples of
the different types of algae:

http://www.otocinclus.com/articles/algae.html

I don't believe the algae growing on the snail's shell
will harm it.

many ofmy larger species snails (apple, cana, mystery, briggs, spixxis) get algae on their backs. they usually get groomed by there family/friends or if it gets bad ipopo the out and give em a wipe. its njot unhealthy, but if it bothers yo-u go ahaed and \clean it off. after all fishkeeping is all about asthetics!
