Aside from the usual tests for ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate make sure your ph is above 7 or it can be too acidic for them to make their shells. If you know those reasons aren't the problem then have you been feeding the snail? Applesnails can't live on algae and fish poo. They do best if fed sinking fish, invert, or even frog foods at least a couple times a week. Try dropping some sinking pellets or algae wafers nearby and see if he goes after those. They also like most vegetables and I fed mine on alot of lettuce, kale, cucumber, and mangos. Sometimes snails will just sit half open or fully closed when sleeping but they should move within the next day. If the snail doesn't come out for food after 12-24hours pick it up out of the tank and see if it smells. Dead snails smell absolutely horrible within a few hours. If you get any of it on your hands you'll be washing them 10 times to try to get the smell out. |

I olso make a speacial feeding after the lights are out for both my pleco and my apple snail of algae waffers. lots of info here http://www.applesnail.net/ |

Ok, i'll shut up now. Do you have a heater? |

Scoop out with... anything! Anything other than your paw. That said. I hope it is just 'sleeping'. Try and lure with some zucchini or lettuce on a rock like mooondawg said. ~~~ My fish blow kisses at me all day long ~~~ |
