i had a pair of apple snails and they produced hundreds of babies and then when i added a jack dempsey they all died inclueding the 2 big ones . Does anyone know what could have happened ??

Jack dempseys probably killed them. Most cichlids and applesnails do not mix at all. If they don't flat out crush and kill them they will nip body parts off killing the snails slowly.
