Thx

I bought 4 'Algae-Eating Shrimp' at the LFS today,
$3.00 apiece. I bought 4, they appear to be Amano Shrimp from the pics I could see on the web.. (they also had ghost shrimp but I didn't buy any although alot cheaper.

They appear to be colorless with some black spots on their sides, and there's a tan stripe down the middle of the upper back, do you think they're true Amanos ?

They went right to town in the fry tank, turning over small pieces of gravel and cleaning them off ! Pretty cool little shrimps.. Still want to get cherry shrimp when I redo the 29.

Cherry Reds are terrific tank additions. They have surprisingly long life spans and adapt to all kinds of changes in tank conditions. They sometimes go into hiding (if you've got hiding places like driftwood caves) for extended periods of time. Don't assume they've died and been eaten. They'll show up after 2, 3, 4 weeks like they were never gone.

One BIG caveat. Don't combine them with Tiger Shrimp, which are unscrupulous breeders and will impregnate any female Cherry Reds you have. The end product is not a pretty red hybrid, but a brood of yet more voracious Tigers.

Thanks NewAndrew ! I definately want to get some Cherry Reds..

I couldn't resist, I went back to the LFS today and got some Ghost Shrimp also, price was 5 for $1.99. The guy was nice and threw in 3 more for free !

Also I bought Water Lettuce, $1.99 each, I paid for 2 and got 5 so I'm feeling better about a few otos I lost in the past (well, almost !) Nice to get extras for a change
