Welcome to fp kelso

First off---do you have a saltwater tank? A "Jacques" as you put it is for marine tank only I believe. Shrimp are basically scavengers and a clean up crew, so they will typically eat anything that falls to the bottom. I overfeed my tanks a little so the shrimp get a helping of food. If you have FW, there are many other types of shrimp you can get, ghost, amano, cherry...let us know what exactly your interested in.

if shrimp ate poop, i would have hundreds in my tank. you will find yours dining on algae, sinking pellets, wafers and the like. most shrimp do an excellent job of finding uneaten food particles in hard to reach places. unless you have some mutant variety from outer space, they will avoid eating poop just like everything else in your tank.

hope your budding interest in fish keeping blossums into a hobby that gives you years of enjoyment.

They may seem happy...but it doesnt matter too much, cories are schoolers and need a group of 6 or more, and the danios are too. If I were you, I'd just keep the guppies and bring everything else back, maybe get another guppy or two and some more shrimp. Or, just get a bigger tank. A five gallon is not a good home to all those guys you have now.
Shrimp will eat sinking pellets of a variety of sorts, along with flakes that have fallen or anything they can get their hands on. What kind of shrimp did you get?

check out shrimpscrabsandcrayfish.co.uk (i would link it, but do not know how). it will give you the basics on shrimp care.

ferret is right- would you like to spend the rest of your life in your tv room with 7 or 8 strangers (with different habits, different languages, and tastes) for the rest of your life? the first few days may be alright, but imagine after 6 months or so.

your fish may seem to be acting normal, but how much fun could they be having in a 5gal tank?
