i have an apple snail in my 1.5 gal hex tank with a betta. the tank does not have any algae growth. can i feed the snail by dropping flake food for him to eat off the bottom or do i need to give him algae wafers? how can i encourage a small amount of algae growth so that he can be more self sustaining?

Hi,
We meet again. You can feed your snail with a small piece of blanched zucchini, or some blanched fresh peas. If you opt for the peas, after blanching, you take them, one at a time and "pop" the meat out of the pea. Discard the skin and drop the meat in the tank. Don't leave the food in there for long as it will begin to decay.

Hi,
No, but they pose the least problem, use commonly available foods, and as long as you remove any left over food after 12 hours, it is the least dangerous.

that sounds good. i have to resort to more conventional methods because i dont have any way of getting around. otherwise going to the store to buy what you recommend wouldnt be an issue. thanks for the help.
