when i first got them, one of the gold gouramis would chase the other one around as well as the other gouramis. Now all they seem to do (when they aren't eating) is lie down in their hiding places. The one that used to chase the other one, is almost always in the decorative skull. The other one is right by it in the corner of the tank. They come up sometimes to get more air, and now they can lie together and not chase each other. What are they doing? The head gourami seems to be the blue gourami now, but it's not causing too much trouble.

As bubble nesters, I wouldn't think that they are breeding if it hides as much as you suggest. Have you got a pair? (Males have longer dorsals) because if the are two males, that may be the result of the constant chasing.

After they figure out who's the boss Gouramis are usually pretty laid back. They seem to work best in groups of three or more, but there are very agressive individuals as well.
