Is there such a thing as a yellow female? Just curious, because I've got pink, green, blue, and red. I've never seen one before and I was just wondering if they exist or not, and how rare they are.

A member of the aquarium society I belong to breeds yellows, I'm not sure how rare they are in general though.

edit: I just did a bit of reading at Bettatalk.com. Apparently the color yellow itself isn't rare in bettas, but certain strains of yellows are.

clean vibrant yellows are uncommon.

pineapple yellows, and washed out yellows are pretty common.

I don't believe I've ever seen a vibrant yellow female.... Just the pastel yellows..... Would love to have one though! Right now, my females are purple, white, cream with red fins, blue...... My males are blue & red, white, red, and then I have one that is red with a more powder blue... All are beauties! I'd also like to get an emerald green at some point (I've seen them online - but so far, nothing local!)..... but now that you've brought up yellow.... Maybe bettas should come with a warning: "Buy one... and others WILL come!!!" ]
