The one on the right is fine, but the other two would be too small. Bettas need at least a gallon.

That's a good find!

The lids can be cut

The sphere is almost a gallon and the hex is two. IMHO, the hex is ideal out of the four, and good for a tight budget.

bettas don't need a gallon. what people have to start understanding is that when a betta get's shipped which i have seen. they are in alittle bag that is sealed like the food saver does. the bettas are in very little water to save on shipping and bettas can live anywhere in any amount of water as long as their gills are wet. i think it is just silly that people "say"they put their bettas in 10gal,60,5. yea right. first u will probably be in $ trouble and space trouble.

For sanity's sake (can't imagine cleaning a tank 2 or more times a week, which is probably what you'd need for anything much less than a gallon), a gallon is adequate. It's the whole "how would you like to live in a closet?" deal. Yes, a betta can SURVIVE in less, but how happy can it be? I'm currently upgrading my one gallons to two gallon tanks and I can tell you now that they're much more active in the bigger tanks.

As for these containers, I agree... they're great AND cheap. The only thing they need is lighting (I grow hornwort in my betta tanks), and I think just your average desk lamp fitted with a screw in fluorescent would work fine. Besides... imagine a lineup of those hex shaped tanks or the globes? How striking would that be?

~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~

I wonder how much petco spends on those little cups? Even the littlest container on that site could house a betta until it was bought.

I had the same container as the hex shown. I actually was going to use it for a betta, but, it wasn't strong enough to hold the water. Plus, with that small of an opening, cleaning it would be a pain.

The Petco near my school changed their containers from one cup to two cups. It's pretty cool, the people working there really care for their fish. It's so awesome. Someone messed up filling the betta water and they had so little water. But when I came back at the end of the day after telling the employee and finding him again, he sadi someone messed up it's suppose to be 1/4 in of water from the top, not from the bottom. ^_^
