COVER YOUR BETTA TANKS!! regardless of how much space to the top there is! My betta female's 2 gallon cracked, so I put her in a 10 gallon and filled it halfway for the weekend (I didnt have time to fix it before I left for the weekend). I figured she'd be fine since there was a good 6 or 7 in to the top. I came home to a dead betta, she was stung by a wasp!

umm - how do you know she was stung? Was she swollen, bloated, dark, etc?

I like to think that whoever designed marine life was thinking of it as basically an entertainment medium. That would explain some of the things down there, some of the unearthly biological contraptions

the wasp was still in the aquarium, stinger gone, and she was doing a headstand on the bottom, with a swollen bright red belley (she was a cambodian so it was very obvious)

I am also sorry for your loss, the only thing I might see is that your betta thought the wasp was food?
