My cornflower blue male lays on the bottom of his bowl. He only moves to eat. He is still showing good color and finnage. He just lays on the bottom with his dorsal fin erect. I am afraid he is getting old. He is 3 years old now and I heard that they rarely live past this age. I hope I am not getting ready to lose my little buddy. Has anyone else had problems like this? By the way I do a water change every other day and feed hikari gold, tetra betta min, and tubifex worm occasionaly. I feed twice a day.

Sorry, but thats what happens when they are ready to go. ATleast All of mine have done that, usually start staying in one spot on top of the water, then start laying down below on the rocks.....Almost like they are looking for a good spot.....3Yrs, that is Amazing.....Wish I could deliver better news though, maybe someone else can, but I just think its time......Sorry

Hm... my oldest is 4 and a half now...

You may want to add some more protein to his diet, bloodworms or posibly shrimp (some eat it, some don't)
