I can't find any at my lfs. Are they rare? I'd really like one.

generally lfs will not get any types of bettas, or different betta tails, than betta splenden, veil tails.

Y? u may ask, well the veils are really cheap, often around .25 cents per fish. lfs may not go out and order crown tails/HM/ etc. because they are more money.

no they are not rare, but true CTF may be. best to look online.

CTs should be starting to outdo VTs at pet shops, especially over the next 6 months, as there is an oversupply. CTs are now (in australia) rivalling VTs in price, and the quality is excellent!

I've found them stores here, generally for the same price or a few dollars more than veils. I've found deltas for the same price as veils (yay, cause they're my new favs) and other random surprises. And most of my bettas are from chain stores.

It's amazing what you can find when you're patient and look hard enough.

Keep looking, I have found cts at Petco, but not Petsmart. However, if you are thinking of the really striking cts the best bet would be on line, unless you know of a local lfs that buys from a local breeder, then you could aquire some decent fish.

the betta market is gone, so breeding reg Ct or dt or veils etc. is pretty much not worth it. it u want them to look at, then u should be able to find some cheap ones, right now the market is looking for DDR, or king Cross CT's which will be rare to find, and really now ther market is looking for colors, such as butterflies.

Last weekend, I found the cutest little crown tail female, pink with red fins, at Wal-Mart. I was lucky to find her when I did. They are hard to find around here, but this is the first one I have found at Wal-Mart I have a comb tail male (from Wal-Mart)that I thought was a crowntail (rays not deep enough), but very pretty.
You can get them on line at a place called, www.DrsFosterSmith.com, for about $7.00 each, plus shipping. You won't have any choice in the color, etc. as they will send you what you have, but it is an option. I have never ordered fish on line, at least not yet.
