YEARS ago (and I'm speaking of a LOT of YEARS!) I kept several bettas in small individual bowls - never once cycling (because frankly, I didn't even know about cycling! ![]() However, this time around (in fish keeping I mean) I've changed a lot of my "old ways".... I now use already cycled water from my 55 gal tank to "start" a betta tank; use regular aquariums with heater, filter, etc.; and would never dream of placing a betta in ANYTHING under 2 gallons! I decided that this would be best for the betta's quality of life - both physically and environmentally.... and in turn I've reaped personal benefits as well - seeing healthy, happy fish! ![]() Partial water changes are essential - as bettas prefer fresh water..... Hope you find a Betta Beauty! ![]() To thine own self be true... |

Just do partial(about 10%) water changes every week. Even without a filter, the tank will cycle enough to support one Betta. |
