Soon I'll be setting up a 29gal tank, and I want to get 2 Dwarf Blue Gourami (a male and a female). What would be a good tank mate for them ?

I think most other fish will do fine with that type of gourami, just don't get fish that are aggressive no matter what.(like some cichlids) Sometimes other gouramis will spar a little, but not to the extent where injury will happen. (by the way, I like the Kerry quote!)

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

This might be too many fish but a school of kuhli loaches or Cories for the bottom and a school of small fish like Cardinals or harlequin rasboras would make an active but peaceful environment.

I'm not sure what the bioload is like for kuhli loaches but I would imagine it would be pretty small for the harlequins.

IMO - female gouramies are pretty boring looking so it might be better just to stick with the male to keep the bioload down.

Male dwarf gouramis can get very aggressive with females, so the best thing to do would get a trio (1M/2F) so one female won't get harrased too much.

I had a dwarf gourami pair once, and the male killed the female.

As for tank mates, something that is middle and lower dwelling would be best so the gouramis don't have to compete with another fish for the top area.

Ok, Thanks. I do have 4 small Cories and 5 Rasboras in a 10 gallon now. I think that when I get the 29 set up I'll move them and get 1 male and 2 female Gourami's. That should fill it up.

Then I have a 10 gallon to play with again.
