My Betta, Priscilla, Won't Eat Her Food. I Have Never Had Good Luck With Female Bettas. She Won't Eat. She Lives In A Ten Gallon Tank. She Watches As Her Food Goes Past Her, And Ignores It, Or Swims Away, Frightened. I Tried Waiting Until She Gets To The Top, But That Dosen't Seem To Work Either. She's Afraid Of The Food! I Don't Want Her To Die. Someone Help Me!!!

Okay lets see how long has it been since she last ate? When did you get her? And what food are you feeding her? I might be able to help you if you can tell me that.

I Have Had Her For About Two Days. Since I Got Her, I've Only Seen Her Eat 1 Small Pellet. The Rest Of The Times I've Tried To Feed Her, She's Decided That She's Afraid Of The Food, And Swims Away From It. I Got Her At Wal-Mart. I Am Feeding (Correction-Trying To Feed Her) Betta Pellet Food, Made By The Company Aqua Culture. My Sister's Betta, Monsoon Always Ate It. But Maybe She's A Picky Eater? Could That Be It?

First off sometimes when you get a new betta they will fast for a little bit. Also I have had a couple of bettas that refused to eat pellet food, though it was betta bites but I bet they are similar. I surgest going to your lfs and picking up some freeze dried bloodworms or frozend bloodworms. Bettas love bloodworms and just can not resist them. Also freeze-dried/frozen brineshrimp are also good to. Well I hope all goes well!

Hehe
Monsoon, My Sister's Betta (May He Rest In Peace) Wouldn't Even Touch The Stuff. The Only Thing He Would Eat Was The Pellets. That's Why I Bought Them. I Will Try The Things You Suggested. Maybe Prissy Will Eat The Worms

I've never known a betta to refuse to eat Hikari pellets. However, sometimes bettas go off their food after coming home from the store. They can live for over a week without food, so don't worry too much. When she gets hungry, she'll eat. Until then, just keep feeding her and taking out the uneaten food.

They shade the glow of it with their mossy-misty costumes,
They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver,
So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces.

Even if she eats the bloodworms, keep trying to feed the pellets. Bloodworms aren't a good daily source of food(to much protein). If she still refuses the pellets you have now, try a different type of Betta pellet. There are many brands that make a good, daily Betta food.

:%) Sorry, but you're typing with all the capital letters makes my eyes spin.

My betta's came from a place where they were fed flakes and they refused to eat pellets (hikari).

I got them to eat them by lightly crushing the pellets into several pieces before adding whole ones - which they now eat with gusto!

Sorry, but I need to ask a question... Why is an abundance of protein harmful to Bettas? (Is it the same with all fish?)

I really think it's a matter of her being in a new home and still adjusting.

I'd be careful with the worms. They may entice her to eat but in the process you might be creating a new problem for yourself...she refuses pellets now, you give her worms which most fish think are awesome, after you see her eating those you try pellets again and she's back to refusing.

Personally I'd stick with the pellets, if she doesn't eat try not to worry about it. Give it a few more days.

An abundance of protien is GOOD for bettas, BUT you cannot feed them meat with no roughage, as they quite easily get constipated.

bettas require a high protien diet.
in the wild they would be eating bugs and whatnot. The bugs and larvae would have gutfuls of 'veggie matter' which the bettas would also ingest.
they would also get the odd mouthful of pure veggie matter when they aim incorrectly for a high-protien morsel.

we just have to keep this sort of stuff in mind when feeding

For animals, the entire universe has been neatly divided into things to (a) mate with, (b) eat, (c) run away from, and (d) rocks. - Terry Pratchett
