It is about 5 gallons. It lookes like it could hold water and I want to get a betta. I would put a whisper internal filter in it with some javafern. Would it work? I think it is probably a ![]() |

If you intend to do 100% water changes, then you could get by without cycling it. I'm thinking I'm going to try to cycle my five gallon, though I don't know how successful it will be. After taking another look at those containers (not a bad price for the size!), I'm going to have to go and measure the shelves my bettas are on... see which would fit. ![]() ~Meow. We used fishless cycling so we didn't have to test the water every day (didn't have to worry about killing off a fish) and then when the cycle was complete we put 2 platies (from our other tank) in there for just over a month and checked the water often. It probably took another 2 weeks after the cycle was complete for us to get a handle on how often it needed wc, etc. I've found that a 15% change weekly is fine now, but it is a heavily planted tank with lots of hornwort and that keeps the nitrates under control. Anyhow, hope that helps. -Beth |
