Does anybody have a picture that can show me what a tail may look like after a betta has been biting itself. I think my betta may be doing it. I've recent;y started a full-time job and my betta was use to seeing me everyday, most of the day and now i'm gone almost all the time. I moved him out to the living room where he can see my mom move around and such. But, i think that he has/had a case of separation anxiety (hopefully, that doesn't sound too stupid) and started to bite himself. Because I never saw him do it before, and i haven't seen him do it now. And, only since I started this job, I've seen the end of his tail turn red at the ends and is looking shorter. It looks like either fin rot or he's biting himself. I started BettaMax already to help with any possible infection so far....can anybody help me??

P.S. sorry for the long post....edit: also, water quality is great. So, i'm not too sure about the fin rot because of that..

I moved him out to the living room, (just dragged the nightstand his tank was on) out to the living room. The redness has seem to go away... and i don't notice anymore detreoiration of his tail. So, the bettamax must have done it's thing. And, I think him seeing movement outside his tank has kept him excited enough....so..thanks for your reply!
