but isn't majorly cheerful and still no flaring.


i took out the glass fish anf replaced it with a bridge and some black shiny stones and plastic (very soft-did the tights test)plants and a couple of live plants. it has a filter and light (12 hours)

he has been moved from my desk to my dressing table, where i spend more time ...!!!!! and can talk to him every day.


he is more active but not flaring. is he just really chilled out?? he follows my finger and eats fine, he did almost jump out of the tank at my finger yesterday to get to the food, he missed completely but it is the most i have seen in a while.

I will keep going for a while with the mirror every couple of days and the different foods.

i have had him for six months has he just grow out of flaring and being stroppy do they have to do it?? i mean i know it is bad for puffer fishes to puff but i alway thought it was good for bettas to flare my female in the community tankflares loads in comparision.

Sounds like nice redecorating

I currently have 4 males, the oldest has been with me a year, the newest about 2 months.

They never flare at me. They'll flare at a mirror, or after I do a water change since I rearrange the tanks and it's like the have a new neighbor to make faces at

Your female may flare because she's with other fish. Your male might just be happy in his home and comfortable; it seems he doesn't have a need to flare.

ur lucky i have one male that i gave to my mom and when i go near it, it flares and when she goes near it it won't Plus i think it remembers me. My friend has a wholesale fish thing and i went and picked this male(blue/black DT male)so i think he hates me for buying him and not his friends.

I changed the lighting because i keep getting algae, yucky yucky stuff, i turn it on only in the evenings, now that is when he flares at me!!! and he gets very active when i feed him, i have also swapped round when food i give him when, so he does nt know exactly what he gets.

he gets a real kick out of my hair drying and straightening and of course the dancing to the radio in the morning.

so all in a ll he is much better

ironically his would be girl friend seems unwell today, her colour seems very faded in one half of her body very odd.

any how joey is doing good again!!!
