I have had joey since January of this year. he started out very lively and flaring all over the show, in the last six weeks he has become very relaxed? verging on the sluggish. he is in a five gallon - can't remember exactly check profile below. he has 100% wc every saturday and has plants and a very slow filter in his tank.

he gets hikari betta bites and tetra delica foods plus some time he gets live food.

and he has a heater, steady 79'.

i went away for a few days and i have come back to hs tail sort of disappearing? not massively, it is white at the edges, it sort of looks like a chunk is missing?

i did a water change, tonight only fifty percent. he is swimmin around and really went for his food tonight.

so any ideas? suggestions? should i use melafix?

thanks

GFG

You might get more response if you have your thread moved to the hospital forum..... I can't really address your present concern - because, knock wood, my bettas have not yet encountered any type of health problems... I did look through my book on Bettas - but couldn't find what you were speaking of..... But although I've not been able to give you much assistance, I do wish you well! (You might want to check out "Interactive" then select "Disease Identification" ----- Do the symptoms under fin rot fit your fish's condition?)

sometimes bettas just breakdown when they get old. there tail and movements don't look good. it is just the way it goes. u can try bettamax but when a fish gets old problems happen.
