	Pearls damaging plants!?

I have 4 in a 20 gal with some Cabomba/Milfoil/Elodea..they are seriously picking at the Cabomba for sure..probly the Milfoil too..just got the Elodea but it seems a little tough for them. What plants do they damage more..and which plants fare better with them? These guys are moving into my 125 gal in a few weeks..which i'd like to put a few plants in on one side..just don't want anything they're really gonna tear up.

jungle labyrinth Fingerling Posts: 21 Kudos: 24 Votes: 0 Registered: 25-Jul-2004	Pearl gouramies? They search food (algae, even blue-green algae, micro-organisms) from plants but they don't eat the plants, at least they don't in our house.

Won't worry about the Pearls then (not that they were going anywhere anyway lol)

jungle labyrinth Fingerling Posts: 21 Kudos: 24 Votes: 0 Registered: 25-Jul-2004	I have to admit that my only fine leaf plant is some Limnophila aquatica (are doing well actually) and i have only one pearl gourami. Pearl gouramies eat some algae matter(more like plankton i guess), so maybe giving little green foods would help. Just thinking this because i haven't heard before that pearl gouramies would eat plants. I've seen both my pearl and blue gourami eating blue green algae and i tested in another tank, both eat that (i think it's often blue green algae of some sort)film from the surface. Antti
