I have 1 female in 2 of my tanks and they are fine on their own but 2gether they were always fighting even with a male. So i would say just get 1 female.

Males are more aggressive coz they are territorial so its up to you. Our pests at home have females. Go in and ask.

One male should be ok. In time, you'll have to move the Goldfish, the Pleco, and probably the other cat to larger quarters, as they will all grow too large for the 30. Just an FYI.

When I wanted one only males were available. He did fine in my 29g with platies, kribs, cories. They like plants, especially floaters. The only problems I saw were between him and my blue gourami, who was simply a nasty fish.

Male dwarf gouramis are a great fish to have. The only problem I see is he will have issues with your female betta.

The dwarf gourami is a great fish, full of character. Mine bothers nobody, too busy poking around every corner of the tank ! He may have a problem with the female betta.

I've heard people say they're shy fish, never seen it myself. Very sociable likes to nibble the hair on my arm when I have to stick my hand in the tank.

I have two male powder blue gourami in my 30 gallon and they get along fine for the most part. Right after I feed them one chases the other a little bit. But there are plenty of plants in my tank so they stay seperated. At other times they swim around together with each other. Great beatiful fish in my opinion.
