They think that bettas are not worth the effort. To quote my mum, "You spend half your life looking after the fish, and all it gives you in return is a broken heart when it dies prematurely, after you do everything possible to keep it happy!"

Which couldn't be further from the truth. IMO, bettas are a lot more interactive with their owners than some fish.

Mum is such a drama queen.

I'm so sorry for your loss

Since you had a betta what are their reasons for not allowing you to get another?

Nope, I'm only 12 so I obviously still live at home. Both of my parents aren't so keen on fish and it's a miracle I even got Elijah.

P.S: I decided to stick around. Even if I can't have fish of my own I can still drool over other members' fishies.

My betta Elijah died today from unknown causes. What puzzles me is that he had no symptoms of disease or illness at all except clamped fins and inactivity. It couldn't have been internal parasites as yesterday he was fine and today he was dead. Internal illness can't take effect that fast! The tank water parameters were perfect, the temperature was steady at 26 degrees celcius and there was nothing around him that could have stressed him out.

I'm not allowed to replace him and since Elijah was my one and only fish I probably won't be on FishProfiles much more, though I may pop in occasionally.

So see ya.
