As some of you know, one of my bettas had a bad case of insidious fin rot that took several weeks to get under control. I'm happy to say that it's been about a month now and I'm seeing regrowth on the pelvic and anal fins. The problem is that his tail is still badly scarred. Will it ever grow back or is it possible he is "scarred for life"?

It should grow back but if its so badly damaged, it may take longer and will never look as good as it did originally.

My poor Liberty was plagued by fin rot for ages. We finally kicked it, but the regrowing fin is very delicate... Everytime it starts growing back and looking good, some of it will melt away. I'm so peeved and despairing that it will ever grow back fully. The growth that gradually gained color again (the new growth was clear) doesn't melt away, but the clear growth is very delicate...

~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~
