I was wondering if a 5 gallon eclipse tank would be suitable for a betta, one or 2 ADF's, and possibly some neon tetras. Would all of these fish be compatible with each other? Would a 10 gallon tank work better? Also would i have to cycle the 5 or 10 gallon tank? Thanks

a 10 gallon would definately be better as neon tetras like to school. (around 6-8 neons should be okay). cycling is always better and it's best not to add everything in the tank at once.

Cool, I am not sure about the neon tetras though, for some wiered reason i think that they wouldn't look good with the betta.

A betta and an adf, but there's really not enough room for the neons in a 5g.

I will probably go out to the pet store and take a look at the bettas. I am thinking i will go just with the 5 or 10 gallon and a betta with a couple adf's.

Seeing how most of the time a 10 gallon is the same price as a 5 gallon, go with the 10 gallon. It's heavier and takes up more room, but the Betta and ADFs will enjoy it.

Should i buy a whisper filter for the 10 gallon? I really dont want a topfin 10 gallon filter because of water agitation. Just want my betta to be happy...

I've heard some people had good luck with a Whisper filter and a Betta. But when I tried it, my Betta's fins where pulled into the intake and shreaded. My new setup for my Betta included just a sponge filter. There's no way the fins will be shreaded from a sponge. And if you position the out-flow correctly, the turbulence is very little.

My betta is in a 2.5g and I use the whisper filter that came with it with no problems. I just adjusted the filter down to the lowest setting. Current isn't a problem for Gofish, infact he likes to play with his food in the filter current.
