On wednesday, I'm transporting 3 tetras, 4 shrimps and 2 bettas approx 2 hours from Essex to my parents house.
The plan is to bag them up, then put them in a polystyrene box in the back of my car where it's warm, then get them out as soon as we arrive.

Thinking about adding melafix to their bag water, but not so sure it's a good idea. I've got big bags, so I'll be able to get plenty of air in.

I'm scared though.........

MelaFix isn't needed. The will do fine for 2 hrs even if you don't put them in the polystyrene box.

Just breath. All will be ok.

Two hours shouldn't be a problem. Way back before I got into tanks, kept bettas, and didn't really know what I was doing I moved with a betta...5 hour drive with the poor thing in a plastic container sitting on the passenger seat next to me At least I knew enough to keep him out of the sun.

Good luck

2 hours is nothing! Sin and I did 14!!!

You have got it all down.

Forget Melafix, but consider AmmoLock or something like that if you are worried.

Bag the shrimp in one bag, the bettas in separate bags, and you make an educated decision on the other fellows.

Don't get them out ASAP, get things set up FIRST, otherwise it will be more stressful.

And if you can, stick them in the from seat and NOT on the floor as the floor vibrates like mad and the back seat flies around more than the front.

Oh, and dont feed them the day before, they can get 'carsick'

For animals, the entire universe has been neatly divided into things to (a) mate with, (b) eat, (c) run away from, and (d) rocks. - Terry Pratchett
